Gratitude

Apa khabar!

The work is progressing still and we have been able to talk to people but my Facebook account has been extremely limited and can only add 20-30 people every couple of days. This has taught me to ask God for direction of which people to send requests too.

I have a new companion and (most likely the last one) in Elder O'Boyle.

President Nelson's invitation to us has been great and it's good to see people join in gratitude and look at the things God has helped them with in their life. The Prophet of the Lord's prayer was great to hear and really gives hope that things WILL get better.

These days I have been quoting the same or similar Scripture to people:

"¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you"

I guess that's where everything starts. God loves us and wants us to be Happy. He is willing to give us answers and we need to ask (and of course, listen, for what would be the point of asking?) and even seek the answer out.

The sure thing is God is there.

Fall colors and Faith in Jesus Christ
Week 68

Hi everyone!

We were able to see and enjoy the last bit of colors this past week before a big storm came and blew everything away from the trees. My companion, Elder Gruwell, and I were really disappointed but what can you do?

We had a testimony meeting this past Sunday at Church and everyone's testimonies brought good feelings and made me realize how long it's been since I've been in one. Well, if we get back to testimony meetings then I hope things only go up and forward from here.

Talking to a lot of people about their beliefs online, I realized a really important topic for me that I wanted to share.

We do not know how exactly or what exactly Jesus Christ did to take on the weight of our sins, but somehow He did it! He only asks of us to look to Him and change ourselves to follow him. That is our Faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement. We do not, or hopefully did not, know. But because of what we learned of Him through the scriptures and how He has been directly part of our lives along with the confirming power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, our Savior, our advocate with the Father, our friend, that we can continue to have and act on our faith in Him.

I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he laid down His life so we might live. I know we can always turn to Him and I know we can be forgiven of our sins through Him. I hope I can invite at least one more person to come to know that as well.

I say these in the name of Jesus Christ.

Companions, Conference, Curry
Week 67

Selamat petang semua!

The work has progressed ever so and I am now serving in Rhinelander with Elder Gruwell. Had to say goodbye to Elder Jones and the members of the Kettle Moraine ward.

Conference was great and answered some very important questions that I had. One of them being if they actually did prophesy and exercise seership during the talks. So I went back and highlighted words that testified of Jesus Christ and also words that predicted and promised future events and the talks actually are abundant with it. An excerpt:

I promise that as we both prepare and press forward with faith in the Savior, we all can receive the same grade on the ultimate examination of mortality: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” - Elder David A. Bednar

I've found a way to keep even busier through practicing my cooking. I tried my hand at Indian cuisine and actually proud of how my curry turned out 😤😤 might need some work on my roti skills, though. I guess repentance also works that way as we work on the things that we can improve on and prove faithful in the end we'd have those words of "I love you" face to face from the Lord as well.

Love you,
Elder Borja

Repetition
Week 66

Hello everyone!

It has been a wonderful week and we just had transfers and I'm excited for what these last few transfers would bring. I was able to grab ingredients and able to cook more Asian food this week after a month of so of a lot of junk food so my mental state is up to great heights right now.

We have also started running and have even made an obstacle course out of the nearby playground. And it's definitely thrilling to see my pounds drop when weighing in.

Missionary work in the Kettle Moraine is still going good and we have been able to teach. The city I'm mainly in, Oconomowoc is a small city with a scenic downtown lake-beach going on, and it's not very far from Milwaukee. We had an opportunity to work with the Salvation Army and go up to Milwaukee and it turns out that we had too little to do because the batch of missionaries that came the day before did most of the work. Always good to get a bit of service in, though.

Throughout this past week I've heard the same set of scriptures over and over again through a lot of different means and would like to share that with you as well since repetition can be for our own good, too.

Luke 6

27 ¶ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

There's a lot of things going on right now which may leave us taking sides or standing for our beliefs and etc., but let us always keep the Lord's words in mind and do what the Lord would do and everything will turn out for the better.

Love you all!

Shalom,
Elder Borja

Dog Days of Summer
Week 65

Hello!

It has been a great month. We were able to work still and had been given the opportunity to go back to Church (albeit limited). The work is still going on and I'm really glad the Mission President is receiving revelation for where we should go and what we should do.

There has been a lot of opportunities for service and we got to know a lot of the people in the ward that way. We even got to visit our Bishop's farm and help out. There's a lot of animals there and we got to meet and pet a few of them.

It's been getting warmer and there's been less rain. A member called these days the "Dog Days of Summer" which I thought had a nice ring to it. I wonder when the Dog Days of our life would be. Better hydrate with good things like the Gospel, relationships, etc. before then 😁

Helaman 5:47 Peace, peace be unto you, because of your faith in my Well Beloved, who was from the foundation of the world.

Keep pushing until the end.

Love you all,
Elder Borja

Week 56

Hello, Everyone

We're slowly working our way towards getting back to Church and if all goes well we'll be back by August 9 which I'm really excited about.

I am turning 22 on Wednesday and I've been trying to remember all that's gone on in the last two and more decades. I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to know God's love even through it all.

Keep praying and while it can get flat and routine-y from time to time, don't stop communicating with Heavenly Father. Keep yourself guarded through the scriptures.
