🕯️ Some people are running on empty, and when you offer to help, all you get back is: “I’m fine.” It is easy to reach a verdict — too stubborn, doesn’t appreciate it — and write the whole thing off before we have listened. God did not treat Elijah that way. He had just watched fire fall on Mount Carmel; not long after, he sat down under a tree and asked to die. God did not begin with a rebuke. He gave him time and space to sleep, set bread and water beside him, and only then spoke — “Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you.” 🍞 Later at Horeb, God asked the same question twice: what are you doing here? Not an interrogation. An invitation. Sharing the gospel with care looks like this — patient listening, practical help, time and space. Care is not a technique, it is a way of living. And caring does not mean we never speak: when the door opens, share naturally.
