Royal Rangers Singapore Outpost #1

Royal Rangers Singapore Outpost #1 The Singapore Royal Rangers started way back in 1977 with the formation of their very first outpost, Singapore Outpost 1 at Bethel Assembly of God HIM Outpost).
(1)

As the outpost numeral suggests, this outpost is the first Royal Rangers group in Singapore. It started in 1977 at 4 Palm Grove Avenue with a group of pioneer boys and some adventurous young adults. Many of those pioneer boys later became the next generation leaders while those pioneer leaders moved on to take on council roles. The group was then under the leadership of Steven Teo and Nicholas Cho

o, who later became the first National Commander of Singapore. The outpost has since then grown and expanded. There were times in the late eighties where the parade strength clocked about 80 to 100 leaders and rangers at 4 Palm Grove parade ground. The group went on and started 4 more outstations (excluding the main outfit) namely, Sembawang Outstation, Jurong Outstation, Thomson Outstation and New City Outstation. The first Senior Commander of Outpost 1 was Cmdr. Steven Teo. He motivated the pioneer batch of leader and they completed the LTC course together. In 1981, he led the Singapore contingent from Outpost 1 to participate in the Australian Camporama. He was succeeded by Cmdr. Christopher Low when he left for Australia to pursue his MBA degree in 1987. Cmdr. Christopher Low took over the vision and directed the outpost until 1992. During this period, there were several deputy Senior Commanders under the leadership of Senior Commander Christopher Low, they were Mark Teo(Palm Grove Outstation, main outfit), Robert Tan Kwang Liang(Jurong Outstation), Andy Tan Kay Teck(Sembawang Outstation), Daniel Lee(Thomson Outstation), Julie Koh(New City Outstation) and Barnabas Loh Teck Choon(Hearing Impaired Ministry Outpost, a.k.a. In 1992, Councilman Daniel Leong took the role of Council Chairman as Senior Commander Christopher moved on to the Outpost Council. The deputy Senior Commanders were then promoted to Senior Commanders and were directed by the Council Chairman. Commander Daniel Leong has diligently led the outpost until 1998 when he relinquished the leadership to Councilman Michael Koh. Comander Micheal Koh is currently the Pastor-In-Charge of the outpost and serving along with him in the Outpost Council are Snr. Cmdr. Edina Choo and Deputy Snr. Cmdr. Siow Rong Qing.

Today, the Royal Rangers Outpost 1 family gathers with heavy hearts to bid a final earthly farewell to our late Pastor, Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock.

To many, he was a distinguished leader and scholar. To us, he was our former Chaplain and, more importantly, a cherished member of our family. He didn't just lead; he walked alongside us, embodying the Ranger code and showing us what it truly means to be "Ready" in faith and in life.

The trails feel a little quieter today, but we are comforted by the legacy he leaves behind in every life he touched.

It’s not goodbye, Pastor Chia—it’s just "until we meet again" at the ultimate campsite. 🕊️

A devotion for Royal Ranger Commanders

The Red Cord

When God brought to memory to Singapore’s National Commander of a visit he had in a prized durian plantation in Malaysia, he remembered seeing a red cord tied to every durian to the branches of the tree. The owner would do that tirelessly. When asked, the owner said every durian is so precious so we tied a red cord on it so that when the durian ripen and fall, it wouldn’t hit the ground but would be held up by the red cord. The owner would then harvest the durians by cutting off the red cord.
Commander Eng Kiat was puzzled so he asked God, what has this got to do with the Royal Ranger Ministry?
The Lord said the Royal Ranger Ministry is the red cord that holds the heart of every child.
Each outpost meeting, Commanders faithfully Reach Teach and Keep, taught the Bible study and shared the devotion. The red cord ties each child heard to the word of God from a very young age. When they are older, even if they fall away from God they will remember God’s Word and will not fall very far away.
Let us all continue to serve our Master Ranger faithfully in the Royal Ranger Ministry knowing that we are faithfully tying the red cord to every child’s heart.

Share the amazing devotion to all Commanders!

Outpost #01 gathered today for our Annual Enrolment Service.
Every Ranger is precious in God’s sight and every Commander is privileged to be given the opportunity to journey with the rangers in the formative years of their lives to walk alongside with them and be a friend.
Thank God for every Commanders who willingly give off their time

Praise God ! Outpost #01 gathered for an overnight camp from 8-9 November with about 150 attendees.
The theme The Joy of the Lord is our strength!
It’s a joy to see the children having fun in the camp.
Also the Joy of doing this camp together with 40 other Commanders !
We are blessed!

Testimony
We planned to do a flash mob at the community
Weather forecast rain for 2 weeks leading to the camp

At 1130am the sky was dark and it rained heavily
A ranger asked commander how its raining

God is sovereign ***
Whether he stopped the rain or not we prayed
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

At 1245, the rain stopped
A ranger exclaimed commander the rain stopped
We performed the flash mob without the rain
Praise God!

It is a testament to all the rangers of God’s answered prayer !
