“KhantÄ« paramaáč tapo titikkhā”. Patient acceptance is the ultimate fervor. — Dhp 184 (trans. Bhikkhu Sujato)

Often translated as patience, khanti is more than waiting it out. It’s the capacity to stay open without shutting down, lashing out, or turning bitter when life refuses to cooperate.

It doesn’t mean nothing bothers you. It means you’re no longer ruled by what bothers you.

During meditation, we sit with discomfort: restless legs, a wandering mind, a feeling you’d rather avoid. In daily life, that same training meets the difficult colleague, the unanswered message, the plan that fell apart.

Want to cultivate this? Join us for DAYWA sits to practice this wholesome quality! (link in bio)

We often think meditation lives on the cushion: eyes closed, legs crossed, breath steady.

🔍 But what if the real practice begins the moment you open your eyes?

The Brahmavihāras, the “four sublime abodes” in Buddhist teaching, aren’t just states we cultivate in stillness. They’re wholesome qualities we learn to live in daily.

✹ Mettā: spreading loving-kindness to all beings.

✹Karuáč‡Ä: when you feel someone’s pain and the urge to act.

✹ Muditā: practising sympathetic joy when someone else gets what you quietly wanted.

✹ Upekkhā: gradually developing equanimity, neither pleased nor displeased by any one outcome.

Join us for a 5D4N meditation retreat for young working adults (20–39), conducted by Sis Sylvia Bay and Bro Chye Chye, for a direct application of these 4 qualities.

All are welcome, new or experienced. A nourishing space to soften the heart and steady the mind 🍃

7 years ago, DAYWA started with just 9 people.

Today? 20+ young working adults join our guided meditation sessions every week. 🧘

50+ people join our monthly Dhamma discussions. đŸ—Łïž

Look how much we’ve grown.

But our mission hasn’t changed: to provide a quiet space in this noisy world.

DAYWA is 7 years old this year; but our journey to practice the Noble Eightfold Path doesn’t stop here.

We’ve become collectors of descriptions, forgetting that the description of a thing is never the thing itself.
It’s like someone describing the taste of a mango to you in great detail. You can memorize the words, but you still don’t know the flavor. You have to bite into it yourself.
On Saturday at Labrador Nature Reserve, we stopped reading the “menu” and started “tasting”. We put away our phones and walked in silence to truly feel the earth under our feet.

Thank you to all 30 lovely peeps for joining us for Mindful Walk on Saturday.

Most of our days are spent rushing, fixing or improving.
This one isn’t.

Let’s head out for a Mindful Walk! A slow, guided space to pause, notice, and just be with what’s already here.

No destination. No need to “get it right.” Just walking, together.

If your mind’s been a little noisy lately, you might find this helpful.

Limited to 30 slots

Keep going, keep practising because in the end
“one is cooked and eaten by the King of Death.” — Varapañño Bhikkhu (Paul Breiter)

One need not worry too much other than to ensure our mind is in a good state when devoured by death.
