Some 36 church leaders and pastors from 28 churches came for the 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭: 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡'𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 on building inter-generational connections. Held at East Asia School of Theology, on 8 August, they heard from Ps Henry Wong (Sr Minister) and Charissa (next-gen leader) of Covenant Presbyterian Church and facilitated by Siew Lee (Capelle). Small group breakouts resourced by the panel (including an Elder, Joan) helped to translate the panel's sharing into contextualised principles and applications for various churches/agencies.

Dear friends,

It is easy to praise God in the good times, but are we able to do the same when our world starts to fall apart?

Indeed, we are living in unprecedented times when things appear to be spiraling out of control as the world grapples with how we can curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Our lives have been disrupted in all aspects – physically, emotionally, spiritually, politically, economically and socially.

Do we only praise God and say that He is good when things are going well, but curse Him or think the worst of Him when the going gets tough? Do we react in times of crisis with doubt, discouragement and fear, or do we respond with faith, hope and love?

When circumstances go awry, may we not lose hope that God is still working this together for good - Families are spending more time together, society is more concerned for the vulnerable, governments are humbled, the church is finally "without walls", and individual lives are being realigned back to what really matters.

Though the fig tree does not bud... let us choose to praise our Saviour!
