Never before have we set up a pop-up during Holy Week. Usually, this is the season where we are fully immersed in preparing children’s programmes and equipping ministry workers for the many sessions happening this week. And a booth in a mall? We wondered quietly if anyone would stop by a small space offering faith-based resources.
But as always, God had something else in mind.
Today marks our second day at Westgate. We’ve met many people—each carrying a different story. A lady who had stepped away from church because of past hurts. Another who lingered because she, too, had wrestled with the question, “Why is Good Friday good?”
There are many ways to share the story of the great love of a Saviour. And in choosing to simply show up, we’ve found our own hearts stirred afresh. These conversations have not only encouraged others, they have rekindled something within us, a deeper joy and urgency in sharing the gospel.
To be honest, we’re still unsure if we’ll cover the costs of being here, much less anything beyond that. But somehow, that concern feels quieter now, softened in the light of what we’ve been witnessing. The wonderful moments remind us that God is always at work, often in the most unexpected places.
If you’re nearby, we would truly love for you to come by, say hello, or simply spend a moment with us. We’ll be at Westgate all week until Sunday, from 11am to 8.30pm.
And as a small way of inviting more hearts into this story, our bilingual book “Why is Good Friday Good?” will be available at a gentle $5 reduction. Our hope is that it finds its way into more homes, conversations, and curious hearts.
If this resonates with you, perhaps you might also consider bringing a friend along!
With love,
Elvin and Esther
