Lund Cathedral - Services in English

On Good Friday there will be an ecumenical pilgrimage through Lund where we follow the cross visiting different denominations and churches. All readings will be in both Swedish and English. We begin in Klosterkyrkan at 12 noon. Klosterkyrkan is the medival brick church on the other side of the train track.
On Saturday there will be an Easter Night Service at 23.30 in the Cathedral. The Service is in Swedish, but the liturgy is so rich that it is an experience even if you don't speak Swedish.
On Easter Sunday there will be Holy Communion Service at 17 where we will remember our baptism. After there will be fellowship with coffee and cake. Welcome!

Coming Sunday, the 7th of December, we will have a Pot-Luck Christmas party after the Holy Communion Service. Bring a homemade Christmas dish from your homecountry, or something Swedish, or buy something to bring. We will eat together and explore some exotic Swedish Christmas traditions. Welcome.

On Sunday, the 4th of May, we will have Pot-Luck after our Holy Communion Service. Bring a dish to share with others. You can buy something or make it yourself.
Also, on Sunday, we will have a group of musicians joining us at the HCS. So, in summation, don't miss Sunday.

A brief guide to Easter in Lund
Maundy Thursday. 18.30 in the Cathedral - Holy Communion Service. It is in Swedish, but the un******ng of the altar is done in silence. This is a very powerful way to follow Jesus into the garden of Getsemane. The service ends in complete darkness.
Good Friday. 12 noon at Klosterkyrkan. Here we start a pilgrimage, walking to different churches following the cross. Readings in both Swedish and English. Our walk through Lund ends at 15 in the Cathedral, where you can join a service.
Saturday. 23.30 in the Cathedral. Midnight Easter Service. It begins in darkness, the same darkness of Getsemane and cross we encountered on Thursday and Friday. However when we we walk to the grave (the Cathedral crypt) we discover that Christ is risen. We then carry the Easter light with us back to the main Cathedral which is now filled with music, light and flowers. The service ends with everyone walking out into the night with candles as the Cathedral bells ring.
Easter Sunday. 17 in the Cathedral. Holy Communion Service with renewal of baptismal vows followed by cake!

You are needed!
Lund Parish wish for no one in Lund to have to spend the night in the cold and need your help to open up a temporary shelter for the coming coldest of weeks. We want to open up Jan 21 and keep the shelter open until March.
In order to do so we need you. Tasks includes meeting the guests, prepare snacks and be at the shelter from 20.30 to 07.00 the following morning. You will never be asked to volunteer alone.

Help us make a difference for those who needs it the most. January and February are cold months especially for those who are without shelter.
Lund parish want to try to make sure that no one in Lund is forced to spend their nights in the cold and we need your help to open up our shelter Vinternatt. Our plan is to open up 7 nights a week, mid-January to mid-March.
In order to do so we need you. You who are willing to meet people with respect, serve evening tea and wake. You need to be at the shelter 20.30 – 07.00. We can open our shelter when we have enough volunteers to make sure no one spends the night alone. As January are drawing close we would be happy to hear from you if you are interested so that we can start planning for an information meeting before start-up and scheduling.

On the 8th of December, after the Holy Communion Service, there will be a International/Swedish pot-luck Christmas party. There will be a sign-up list at coffee after the Holy Communion Service OR you can sign up by sending me an e-mail - [email protected].
You need to bring either a traditional Christmas dish from you homecountry OR buy something else needed on the pot-luck table. To sign up via e-mail write you name an number of people in your party. Also write what you are bringing to the party.

All through summer we celebrate Holy Communion Service (HCS) on Sundays at 5 PM in the Cathedral. The service follows the order of the (Protestant) Church of Sweden and is completely in English. It usually lasts about 45-50 minutes. Church coffee after.

Tomorrow we celebrate HCS on the 6th Sunday after Trinity Sunday. The theme of the Sunday is in Swedish "efterföljelse", which means as much as "following-after".

On Good Friday there will be a pilgrimage where we will walk behind the cross. We will stop at different churches in Lund (Protestant, Catholic, Pentecostal etc) and do readings (also in English). The pilgrimage starts at 12 noon at Klosterkyrkan - https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJ2e2hascNj7Ds5TA.
It ends at 15 at the Cathedral. One can leave or join at own discretion. At 15, there is a joint service (protestants and Catholics together) in the Cathedral.
On Saturday at 23.30 the is a Easter Midnight Service in the Cathedral. It is in Swedish, but the liturgy and the symbolism is so rich that one can partake without knowing Swedish. It starts in a darkened Cathedral. Then we go together to the grave (the Cathedral crypt) where we discover that it is empty. After that we return to the main church which is filled with light, music and flowers. It ends with everyone walking outside – Cathedral bells ringing in the night.
On Easter Sunday at 17.00 there will be Holy Communion Service in the Cathedral followed by fellowship with cake and coffee/tea.
