Alla barn har rätt till trygghet och omsorg, att få gå i skolan, ha en meningsfull fritid och få äta sig mätta. Tyvärr ser inte verkligheten ut så.

KIND – Kids In Need är ELMs fadderprogram med samarbetspartners i bland annat Östafrika. Kids In Need är ett fadderprojekt som drivs av organisationen ELM-BV. Att vara fadder handlar om att vara med och förändra verkligheten och framtiden för ditt fadderbarn. Alla barn borde ha rätt till trygghet och omsorg, att få gå i skola, en meningsfull fritid och få äta sig mätta, tyvärr ser verkligheten int

3000 barn lever på gatorna i Kenyas fjärde största stad, Nakuru.
År 2003 startades Bethesda Children Ministry , ett projekt som arbetar för att bemöta dessa barn. Projektet drivs av
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK) och huvudsponsor är Evangelisk Luthersk Mission – Bibeltrogna Vänner (ELM-BV). Verksamheten är uppdelad i olika grenar där varje gren fungerar som en länk i en kedja som börjar där barnet befinner sig, dvs. på gatan, och slutar när barnet/ungdomen är integrerad i samhället igen. Genom Bethesda får barnet sina grundläggande behov tillgodosedda, så som mat och kläder. De får också möjlighet att gå i skolan, men framförallt får de vistas i en trygg miljö där vuxna alltid finns på plats. Genom att bli fadder i Kids In Need hjälper du ett barn som befinner sig i Bethesdas verksamhet.

Two new boys one from Marigat near lake bogoria Bernard and Samuel ngugi from nakuru street are newly rescued boys to Bethesda children's home. Bernard Onyango as joined grade one while Samuel ngugi joined class 6 but seems can't make it and willing to come back to kindergarten.
Onyango is born of Luo father who died and mother alive from kikuyu tribe but currently married to Turkana father who is not ready to host the boy in his house thus boy ended in the street of Marigat.
Ngugi Samuel is from a single mother,the boy as been in the street more than in school,he wake up and prepare to school but on the way he remove uniform and left with home clothes that he wear from inside,and join others in the street. In the evening,he wear uniform and return home without mother knowing until one day he went to school and found the boy never been in the school.
Now they have joined our preventative program school (Bethesda complex academy) we changed the name because government under ministry of education directed us so.

Our 16 rehabilitation boys join others kids from slum of sobea today at Bethesda chapel to hear the word of God that was delivered by chaplain Rev Langat Samwel.
The number of kids at preventive program by now stand at 123 pupils ranging from kindergarten to grade six.
Our chapel accommodate around 60 members but now we're forced to have over 130 members (kids plus staff).

After conference in Sweden strandhem,let me share with kids in need photos I have taken today's lunch time.
This is the only meal majority will survive with for today.most are from single mothers who are s*x commercial workers who spend few days at home.
Others are orphans who stay with grandparents who are too old.
This preventive program really as assisted the children a lot.if not so,majority were to be in street by now.
I hope they will get God's extended hand to continue getting meals and basic education.

From Bethesda children's home Nakuru, out of 11 boys resqued from the street last month,we manage to remain with 5 while six run away.
Today I managed to visit the home of John maigwa 12 years and his brother Simon Maina 15 years.
The two are from shalom IDP created village after 2007/8 election violence.from the pictures, family comprises 7 siblings and the mother she expecting soon the sibling number 8.
Kids in this family are born yearly and housed in one house as you can see in the picture.
Life here is pathetic,boys says they run away due to lack of food and not making to school.
The father was not present at that time.later we went to court and boys were committed to our rehabilitation center with the other two,whom we're still tracing there origin.
