Mikhail Kiselev was a Russian Orthodox priest and university professor whose life was marked by deep faith and sincere searching. He served 13 years in the military, then spent 9 years as a deacon and priest, and later lived as a monk and academic.
For many years, Mikhail searched honestly for the truth. His greatest inner struggle was understanding the doctrine of the Trinity. Despite extensive study and long hours of prayer, he never found peace or conviction in his heart.
The turning point came in 2006, when he read Why I Became a Muslim by Ali Vyacheslav Polosin, a former high-ranking Christian cleric in Russia. Later, Polosin’s book Overcoming Paganism further clarified Mikhail’s doubts and strengthened his certainty.
Over time, Mikhail realized that monastic life was far from the spiritual purity he had imagined, with many practices rooted in tradition rather than divine revelation. Eventually, he embraced Islam at a mosque in Nizhny Novgorod, choosing Islam purely out of conviction and a desire to worship Allah upon pure monotheism.
He repeatedly clarified that his acceptance of Islam was not for marriage, status, or worldly benefit, but only for truth. Even after his conversion, he continued to pray for his former colleagues in the clergy, feeling sorrow for those who sensed the truth but lacked the courage to follow it.
Mikhail Kiselev passed away a few years ago.
May Allah forgive him, have mercy on him, and grant him Jannah. 🤲
