Mawlid Gem:

Imām al-Nasā’i narrated that Hadrat Sayyidina Amīr Al-Mu’āwiyah (may Allāh be pleased with them) said, The Messenger of Allāh salAllāhu `alayhi wa Ālihi wa Sahbihi wa sallim, came to a circle (meaning of his Companions) and said: ‘What has made you sit together?’ They said: ‘We sat to pray to Allāh and to praise Him for guiding us to His religion, and for blessing us with you.’ Heﷺ said: ‘By Allāh, nothing else made you sit together?’ They said: ‘By Allāh nothing else made us sit together!’ Heﷺ said: ‘Know that I did not make you swear on this because I doubted you, but because Gabriel came to me and informed me that Allāh (Azza’wa Jall) is proudly showing you off to the angels!’

Allāhumma salli `ala Sayyidina wa Habībīna wa Shafī`ina Muhammad, wa `ala Ālihi wa Sahbihi wa bārik wa sallim, walHamdulilāhi Rabb Al-`Ālāmīn!

After the death of Abu Lahab, some of his family members had a dream in which they saw him in trouble, they asked how he was treated after death. He replied, ‘I did not get any goodness after leaving you, however, I get water from my index finger because I freed my slave girl, Suwaiba, with its gesture. [ , Vol. 1, Page 153, 5101]

Commenting on the foregoing narration, Sayyiduna Shaykh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlvi states,

"In this incident there is credible evidence for those who celebrate the birth of Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) and spend their wealth on this occasion. Abu Lahab, who was a staunch disbeliever, was also given a benefit because of rejoicing and freeing his slave girl, Suwaiba for breastfeeding, upon hearing the news of the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) now imagine, how great reward the Muslim spending his wealth whole-heartedly on this occasion will attain. However, it is necessary to avoid songs and music in Milad gatherings.”

Celebrating the birth of the Best Of Creationﷺ.

Some lies people tell and the facts.

Lie #1 : RasoolAllahﷺ never celebrated his birth.
Fact : RasoolAllahﷺ celebrated his birth by fasting on the day he was born (Sahih Muslim 2/819, #1162)

Lie #2 : You will not get rewarded if you celebrate Mawlid because it is a bid’ah.
Fact : Even Abu Lahab got relief after his death on Mondays because he had expressed happiness on Mawlid by freeing a slave (Sahih Bukhari 5/1961, #4813)

Lie #3 : No classical scholar has legalized Mawlid celebrations.
Fact : Many classical scholars have written in favour of Mawlid An-Nabiﷺ. They include Imaam Jalal-ud-din Suyuti, Allama Ibn Hajar Asqalani, Mullah Ali Qaari, Imaam Qastallani, Allama Ibn Hajar Makki, Shaykh Abdul Haqq Muhaddis Dehalvi, Shah Waliullah to name just a few.

Lie #4 : Mawlid is an invention of “Barelvis” in India. It is not celebrated anywhere else.
Fact : Mawlid is celebrated throughout the globe. With the exception of ‘Saudi’ Arabia and Qatar, Mawlid is a public holiday in ALL Muslim countries. Before the Wahaabi takeover of Arabia in 1920’s, it was publicly celebrated in the Haramayn Shareefayn as well. In addition, other countries like USA, England, Australia too have this day in their holiday list.
