The annual changing of the Kaaba’s Kiswah has begun for 1448 AH, continuing a centuries-old tradition of honor and craftsmanship.

For many years, the Kiswah was traditionally replaced on 10 Dhul Hijjah, coinciding with Eid al-Adha. In recent years, however, the ceremony has been moved to 1 Muharram, marking the beginning of the new Islamic year.

BREAKING NEWS | The crescent moon for Dhul Hijjah 1447 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah will commence tonight, and ‘Eid al-Adha will be observed on Wednesday 27th May 2026, in shā Allāh.

May Allāh ﷻ grant the hujjāj a safe, accepted and spiritually uplifting Hajj, ease every stage of their journey, and return them home forgiven like the day they were born. Aameen.

May He ﷻ also allow us all to maximise the blessed first ten days of Dhul Hijjah through dhikr, fasting, du‘ā, charity and righteous deeds, and may He accept all of our worship and efforts. Aameen.

BREAKING NEWS | The crescent of Dhul Hijjah has been witnessed in Saudi Arabia. Tomorrow, Monday, will be the first day of Dhul Hijjah, and the Day of Arafah will fall on Tuesday, 26th May 2026. Eid Al Adha will be observed on Wednesday, 27th May 2026.

NEWS | The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia calls on all Muslims to investigate into sighting the Dhul Hijjah crescent on Sunday evening, 30 Dhul Qadah 1447 AH according to the Umm Al Qura calendar (17 May 2026) — which corresponds to 29th of Dhul Qadah in conjunction with the Supreme Court decision based on hilal sighting at the start of this month.

The results of the investigation will confirm the days of Hajj, including the Day of Arafat and Eid Al Adha.

Sunday, as the first day of Dhul Qadah 1447

NEWS || The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia confirms today, Sunday, as the first day of Dhul Qadah 1447 according to Hilal sighting, as the moon was not seen on Friday night. This date must be used for fasting and other religious purposes.

Therefore the fixed Umm al Qura calendar date which is shown on Makkah and Madinah live channels is a day ahead (2nd).

In the case of conjunction, when the place of conjunction reaches sunset, the moon will have achieved a minimum age of 6 hours and will set after the sun. This means the moon will still be above the horizon at the time of sunset on the day of conjunction. If we follow UQC, the moon will be above the horizon and will also be observable using a telescope on the same day somewhere from the earth.
