“What Will Be, Will Be” – An Admonition for the Youth
Bismillāh ir-Rahmān ir-Rahīm.
Alhamdulillāhi Rabbil ‘Ālamīn, wassalātu wassalāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh.
Dear beloved youth,
Life is full of ambitions and desires. Every young person wants comfort, success, and ease in this world—and there is nothing wrong with that. Islam does not condemn wealth, nor does it forbid enjoying the blessings of this dunya. However, Islam warns us against making wealth and worldly comfort our ultimate goal to the point where we lose sight of Allah, our purpose, and the Hereafter.
The phrase “what will be, will be” reminds us of one of the core pillars of our faith: Qadr (Divine Decree). As the Prophet ﷺ taught, “Know that if the whole nation were to gather to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you except with what Allah has already decreed for you; and if they were to gather to harm you with something, they would not harm you except with what Allah has already decreed against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.” (Tirmidhī, 2516).
This means, dear youth, that no matter how much you rush, cheat, or take shortcuts, you will never get more than what Allah has written for you. And if you stay patient, strive in halal ways, and put your trust in Allah, then what is written for you will reach you—pure, blessed, and with peace of mind.
Many young people today are deceived by the glitter of quick wealth: internet fraud, scams, gambling, haram businesses, and unlawful shortcuts. They think, “If I don’t grab it now, I’ll miss out.” But remember: what is not yours by decree will never reach you, no matter what tricks you use. And what Allah has written for you will surely come, even if the whole world tries to block it.
Allah says:
“And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him.” (Qur’an, 65:2–3).
So my dear brothers and sisters, do not let the desire for comfort push you into the fire of haram. Comfort that comes with sin is poison; it may fill your hands but it will empty your heart. Real comfort is not only in money, but in a soul that sleeps peacefully knowing it has not angered its Creator.
Work hard. Seek halal opportunities. Be patient. Make du‘ā. And trust Allah’s promise: what will be, will be. But make sure when it comes, it comes through obedience, not disobedience.
Remember, this dunya is temporary. A palace today may be a grave tomorrow. But whoever sacrifices haram wealth for Allah, Allah will replace it with something better in this life and the next.
May Allah guide our youth, protect their hearts from greed, and grant them halal provisions filled with barakah. Āmīn.
