The St John The Baptist Cathedral-E.A.R Shyira Today on 28th July 2024 celebrated the father's day Father's Union took part in the liturgical service of This 9th Sunday after Trinity.

The guest speaker was none other than Bishop Emeritus Rucyahana John who quoted the gospel according to St Matthew 19:2-13 encouraged the married, those that are not married and those that look forward to getting married to and care to One another, Bishop reminded Christians that Jesus does not like divorce, separations and any other forms satanic Acts within couples. The preacher concluded by calling upon families to examine themselves and ask God to forgive them and then our families become Small heavens
Among other items done in service was to receive babes and prayed for them.

The St John The BAPTIST Cathedral Today 14th of April 2024 was the father's union Sunday. The liturgical service was a wonderful one with big congregation composed of couples praised and glorified God. The preacher of the day was the Head of the laity Cathedral Mr.MASOZERA Felicien who used word found in 1 Peters 3:1-10 “That both wives and husbands must be one in whatever they do they should be like Christ and be united like Christ’s union with the church are one, And most importantly have salvation as their daily guide. So that when people see them, the name of God shall be glorified.
The Service was characterized by the new nine (9) members who joined the Father's Union,
Rev’d HAGENIMANA Theophile pastor in Cathedral received them and Prayed for them, thanks be to God for enabling each and everyone that took part in this colorful Sunday.

This Sunday of 20th August 2023 was a Father’s Union Sunday where 4 New Members were enrolled into Fathers Union, the ceremony was celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral of EAR Shyira Diocese and it was a wonderfully service. The Preacher Mr. NIYIBIZI Franco shared the message from the book of Genesis 2:18-24 where we see God putting Adam in charge of the garden of Eden and naming every creature on earth that has soul. God created Eve as the helper of Adam and gave them a mission of multiplying all over the world but they both disobeyed God. Today’s world people have become so greedy, husbands are not contended with their spouses and care to their families. the preacher concluded reminding both husbands and wives to love one another not forgetting their children and those that God has given them to look after, remember a good home is a small heaven he concluded.

This Sunday of 14th May 2023 was a Father’s Union day where both fathers and mothers celebrated this day at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral of EAR Shyira Diocese it was a colorful Sunday. The preacher of the day was Mr. MASOZERA Felicien reminded husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. The preacher quoted Paul’s words in Ephesians 5:25 God designed the marriage covenant to for man and woman. As Paul states marriage is profound and mystery concerning Christ and the bride that is so precious to him that he gave up his life in order to sanctify her and make her holy. The preacher emphasized to husband of the Cathedral love your wives just as Christ loved the church let this be our model of marriage and being Godly families.

On Sunday12/2/2023, At St John The Baptist Cathedral Marked Fathers Union Day were 8 New Members were enrolled into Fathers Union to sum up to 78, The day marked the official swearing in of the New Fathers Union Committee members and Commissions, Projection of the Cathedral Fathers Union Projects,Bringing together all members in building a solid foundation and a strong body of the Church of Christ as it in the Diocesan Theme of the Year 2023 in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”

Today on Sunday 16/10/2022, The Parish Priest of Rugeshi Parish Rev Hakizimana Aimable along with Rev Ruzindana John Paul a visiting Pastor from EAR Remera officiated the enrollment of 8 New Fathers Union Members and prayed for the new elected Fathers Union committee in Rugeshi Parish. The Preacher of the Day Rev Ruzindana John Paul as an Experienced Fathers Union Member since 1987 Shared his Background and Archievements with Fathers Union and urged the new Members and elected committee to take the lead as it instructed to Peter by our Lord Jesus Christ in John 21:17, In his message, He shared about the responsibilities of a Father and a leader of the family with relevant examples from the bible. It all started in the Beginning from Genesis, The Colorful day was finalized with a special luncheon with the Fathers,Mothers and Youth Union of Rugeshi Parish,
Rev Hakizimana Aimable thanked the Bishop of the Diocese of Shyira for allowing Rev John Paul Ruzindana to bless this special day and Personally thanked Rev John Paul for sharing his personal experience and the journey of Fathers Union where he asked him to keep in touch as Rugeshi Parish starts it’s projects. This Sunday was dedicated to Fathers Union in the Parish with the aim of reminding and bringing many Fathers to the source, A father as a leader always pray and love their families as Christ loved the church.

Today Sunday 28/8/2022, At Karwasa Stadium EAR Cathedral Fathers Union FC played against Onze Createur FC in Gacaca Sector and the Match ended 1-1, The Football Match was attended by a big number of Supports from the Region, Football as a way of Bringing together Broken Family, Settling and calming disputes among families, Stopping and fighting against Sexual Abuse, Drug Abuse and Use and also fighting School dropouts,unplanned marriages in the Community.
Sports and Entertainment Commission as one of the tool in building a Strong and powerful Fathers Union, A Fathers is a Leader of a Secure Family.

On Sunday 24/07/2022 at St John The Baptist Cathedral Shyira Diocese, Fathers Union conducted a Family Service with the Theme. A Father as the Head of a secure and protected family, This was a training and comeback organized by Fathers Union to help finding solutions to family problems in the society, The Preacher of the Day,Rev Can Dr Rutayisire Antoine shared the Message about the power of a Praying man,Husband and Dad, As indicated on Verse 8: "Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.".
The Bishop of the Diocese of Shyira, The Rt Rev Dr Mugisha M Samuel thanked the Team from EAR Remera/Kigali Diocese for igniting the light for Fathers Union, The rays portrayed with always live marks. The Governor of the Northern Province was more encouraged by the work of Fathers Union Remera in helping the families in the society living with conflicts,sexual abuse,Violence and harassment,Drug and Abuse and trafficking,Alcohol use,Early Pregnancies and unplanned marriages in youth. Fathers Union has come to stay and change the impossible let us raise the banner up high, The Day was concluded with a football Match between EAR Shyira United FC and EAR Remera Fathers Union FC, The match ended 3-2 in favor of Shyira United FC.

On Sunday 27/03/2022,Living Hope Group enrolled 7 Fathers Union Members in the Ministry, These were married men who joined these two Ministries operating in the Diocese of Shyira,Mothers Union celebrated Mary’s Day, The theme for this year is from Isaiah 1:18 “Come and let us reason together says the Lord’. The preacher was the Mothers Union president Jacky Mugisha in her sermon she emphasized God’s Faithfulness, unfailing Love and Forgiveness. She said “God always gives us a second chance”.

Today Sunday 10/10/2021, The Cathedral Archdeaconry enrolled 18 New Fathers Union Members. The Preacher Ntaganira Augustin and Ven Ngabo Augustin urged all married Men to take their role as spiritual leaders seriously, they shared from 1 Timothy 2:1-8.

Fathers Union at St John the Baptist Cathedral started in 2010 with 68 Members.
The Diocese of Shyira has dedicated this sunday for Fathers Union leadership with the aim of reminding all Fathers to always pray and love their families as Christ lived us.
