Rwanda Unitarian Church

Rwanda Unitarian Church Congregation Unitarienne du Rwanda values what is universal and unites the best of all civilizations...!

Rwanda Unitarian Church is a theologically liberal religion characterized by a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning". Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed, but are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth and by the understanding that an individual's theology is a result of that search and not a result of obedience to an authoritarian requirement. Unitarian Univers

alists draw from all major world religions, and many different sources and have a wide range of beliefs and practices.
1. Liberal religion is a religious tradition which embraces the theological diversity of a congregation rather than a single creed, authority, or writing. Because it may draw resources from many traditions, it cannot normally be characterized as Christian, Jewish, or any particular religious faith.
2. Truth is most often used to mean in accord with fact or reality, or fidelity to an original or to a standard or ideal.

“The planet does not need more ‘successful people’. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds. It needs people to live well in their places. It needs people with moral courage willing to join the struggle to make the world habitable and humane and these qualities have little to do with success as our culture is the set.” – Dalai Lama

I AM BECAUSE WE ARE.

Culture is heaving roots in the earth. People without Culture don't exist very long because Nature is God. Without a connection to Nature. The people drift, grow negative, destroy themselves. In the beginning We had one Mind, and it was positive, a thing of beauty, seeing beauty everywhere.

People cannot survive or succeed in life by not receiving assistance from other people. To be a better person or to be successful you need help from people. It is not always the case that if you work hard on your own you will succeed, you always need someone to help you succeed.

Being a Unitarian Universalist isn't for everybody:

-We discuss important questions while admitting our inability to provide easy answers.

-We ask you to love people while pointing out the bad things we need to be discouraged from doing to one another.

-We make no promise of eternal reward (or punishment), but tell you that your actions will live on, and they matter anyway.

-We ask that you keep trying to be your best self, without dictating what that is supposed to be, though we will be there to help you figure it out for yourself.

Just because we are willing to accept everyone does not mean that we should expect everyone to feel like they belong. Some people will not be comfortable in liberal religion.

We cannot convert people to Unitarian Universalism; they either understand it and want to be part of it, or not. They see us doing together what they are already doing alone, and some of them will want to be part of that community. Those people are out there, waiting to hear about us. Let's make sure they find us. Let's go invite them in.

"Here lies the power of the liberal way: not in making the whole world Unitarian, but in helping ourselves and others to see some of the possibilities inherent in viewpoints other than one's own; in encouraging the free interchange of ideas; in welcoming fresh approaches to the problems of life; in urging the fullest, most vigorous use of critical self-examination."

'Rising with the Spring: Hope in Rwanda'

Rev. Emily Ford lighting the chalice with ribbons denoting the colours of the Rwandan flag, whilst dedicating the service to Rwanda, and the congregation in attendance stand for a post service photo opportunity 🙏

"We salute you Rwanda for all you have been witness to, and for all you have sacrificed for the good of the wider world. May you continue to learn, grow, heal, and may WE as a nation never forget you. Amen" 🌍
