RWANDA - Patrick and Arsene Graduate!
Congratulations to Patrick Tuyishimire (Director of Deaf Action Rwanda) and Arsene Ngabonziza (pastor and member of the DAMR Board) - both Deaf - who on May 24, graduated from the East African Christian College in postgraduate studies in Theology. This is an outstanding achievement and we are very proud of their hard work and success.
DMI places a high priority on raising Deaf leaders and Patrick and Arsene are shining examples of young Deaf who are rising to lead their communities. These qualifications empower them to improve the education and welfare of their fellow Deaf, set an example of can-do living, and take the gospel boldly and effectively to a new generation of Deaf. We have been pleased to provide school and interpreter fees to enable them to achieve this great result.
Patrick shares his appreciation with us: “This accomplishment would not have been possible without your invaluable support and encouragement. Your support in our education has not only empowered us academically but has also strengthened our commitment to continue to serve our Almighty God and our community. It is our calling and deepest desire to continue our ministry, spreading the love and teachings of Christ to the Deaf community.
We are truly blessed to have the support from DMI, and we deeply appreciate the faith DMI has placed in us. Graduating with a degree in Theology is a significant milestone for us, and we are more prepared and inspired to serve God and our community. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will continue to serve our Heavenly Father with our whole hearts.”
Patrick and Arsene’s qualifications are timely. The new African Bible school is scheduled to open in September, 2025 in Rwanda so they will be well placed to not only lead the ministry of Deaf Action Rwanda but to play a major role in the operations of the Bible school.

More New Believers
When Senior African Advisor Sam Begumisa visited Rwanda from Uganda, he preached at the ICDR Kicukiro branch. Following a call to repentance, nine Deaf stood to start a new life of faith in Christ. Pastor Claire prayed over them, and the church is following up with support.
Four believers were baptised in Rwanda in the last quarter, three in ICDR Nyarugenge, and one in ICDR Kicukiro. These baptisms never cease to be a source of joy for all the church and across the DMI family.

We are blessed that Uwineza Marie Claire participated Bible course at LIV, Folkehoyskolen in Norway, Marie Claire has a passion about bringing the Gospel to the Deaf people in Rwanda.

BIBLE SCHOOL - NORWAY
DMI is constantly reaching new deaf people all over the world - and not always in the developing world! We have recently started a wonderful collaboration with Ål Folkehøyskole in Norway, most recently involving a week-long FatherHeart conference with 45 participants from nine different European countries.
This was a fantastic gathering of warm fellowship and rich learning. The conference complements our four-month Bible course at LIV, at Folkehoyskolen where a class of six foreign students study under a full-time teacher, Ruth Njihia from Kenya. Ruth is the daughter of one of DMI’s deaf missionaries, Daniel Njihia, whom Neville Muir once sent to Tanzania, where he served for many years. It’s wonderful to see people
from developing countries ministering to people from developed countries - a direct outcome of DMI’s work.
We recently changed our vision statement from “Deaf Ministries International (DMI) is an International Christian ministry network taking the gospel, education and employment to the Deaf in developing countries” to “Deaf Ministries International (DMI) is an International Christian ministry network taking the gospel, education and employment to the Deaf all around the world.” Our work in Norway reflects this expanded vision.
