Yesterday, was excited to participate in a two-day stakeholder retreat organized by Isangano in collaboration with at K2 Hotel & Apartments in . The retreat focused on strengthening the implementation and monitoring of stakeholders’ projects for FY 2025–2026, as well as joint planning and budgeting for FY 2026–2027.

During the sessions, JUC elaborated on project designed to support vulnerable women, including single mothers, widows, and divorced women facing challenging living conditions. The project will equip participants with practical, income-generating skills in , , and arts. Upon completion, beneficiaries will receive to help them launch small businesses and enhance their livelihoods.

Additionally, JUC will collaborate with on and initiatives by providing 3,000 fruit trees—avocado, mango, and orange—to approximately 50 schools.

has officially launched the 7th Cohort of the Youth Empowerment for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program on 11 March 2026, marking the beginning of an inspiring journey for a new generation of young innovators. The program opens with the most powerful module— —for every meaningful initiative starts with understanding who you truly are.

Over the next three months, these young change-makers will engage in a transformative learning experience, gaining practical entrepreneurial skills, mentorship and guidance. The program is designed to ignite creativity, nurture , and provide close accompaniment as participants develop their small ventures into impactful businesses —shaping them not as job seekers, but as visionary job creators ready to drive social innovation in their .

JUC had the honor of participating in a significant ceremony held at Parish on 9 March 2026, marking the conclusion of the first phase of the healing journey ( ). This important initiative brought together individuals who participated in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi and have since asked for forgiveness, alongside survivors, in a shared path toward healing, reconciliation, and peace within the community.

The event began with a Holy Mass led by Antoine Cardinal Kambanda celebrating the 50th Jubilee of the , and participants received small livestock to support their socio-economic development.

was delighted to welcome a courtesy visit from the delegates who were in Kigali to attend a meeting at the Rwanda-Burundi Jesuit Province, where they were reflecting on the best ways to accompany young Jesuits in their formation journey.

During the visit, JUC’s Director presented the mission of the Centre and highlighted the key milestones it has achieved so far. The presentation was followed by an interactive session, during which participants exchanged ideas and asked questions about the Centre’s areas of intervention.

Today, JUC graciously bids farewell to our Programs Manager, Alex Nzayituriki, SJ. During his time with us, he inspired a deep commitment to our mission of promoting social justice for the integral development of all, especially the neediest, through research and social action.

JUC staff met with 100 selected beneficiaries of the Women Empowerment Project in on 2 March 2026, to introduce the project’s participatory approach and present its implementation framework. During the meeting, participants from , , , and sectors selected vocational training courses aligned with their interests and career aspirations. The chosen fields include tailoring, hairdressing, and food processing.

The session emphasized active beneficiary involvement to ensure the initiative effectively responds to their needs and achieves sustainable impact.

The training will be conducted at Hindiro TVET School and VTC Assomption Nyange, with classes scheduled to commence in April 2026.

JUC, on 25 February 2026, conducted a follow-up visit to the fruit trees planted at St. André and LNDC Secondary Schools under the Land Conservation and School Feeding Sustenance for Environmental Protection and Hunger Alleviation Project. The visit aimed to strengthen the sustainability and proper maintenance of the planted trees.

During the visit, JUC staff engaged members of the Environmental Club, providing hands-on guidance on how to care for the school gardens. The session focused on practical skills in ecological sustainability and reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship among students.
