Celebrating 20 years of Gospel ministry in East and Central Africa

28/11/2014

preparing for Campmeeting 2014; 27th-31st Dec.2014 at Gerenge, courtesy of Pr. Jaxon Lulika of Spirit And Word Church, Kampala.
this year's theme is Psalm 92:10

on Dec.31st 2013, we closed Camp-meeting in Gerenge. The burden of my oracle at camp-meeting centred on the fact that "we have this treasure in earthen vessels (II cor.4:7).

The feast of Weeks, also called the feast of Pentecost was celebrated, among other things, with the priest waving two loaves of leavened bread (Lev.23).

Now, leaven is symbolic,really of carnality. Hence Jesus uses it to refer to the hypocrisy of the pharisees(MK.8), while Paul uses it to refer to malice and insincerity(I cor.5).

The message of Pentecost therefore, is that God works through frail humanity to accomplish His purposes! You talk about having FAITH!

God believes in me in spite of myself!

And His Faith has really paid off!

But , alas, I must add that on more occasions than we care to recount He has been let down!

And this let down begins in two ways:

EITHER we become so conscious of our "earthenness" that we hinder Him; subscribing to such nonsense as "I need Him but He doesn't need me,"

OR, we get so carried away by the 'Treasure' in the earthen vessel Until we begin thinking we're more than We ACTUALLY ARE!

The Apostle Paul's admonition to "think soberly" should be a tonic to save us from these two disastrous tendencies!

May we have grace in this year 2014 to serve Him more acceptably with Fear and Confidence, for it is He who has made us FIT TO SERVE HIM through Pentecost!

Speaking somewhere, one person asked my opinion on whether if she were fasting forty days and she got to day twenty-one and felt really hungry she could eat and later resume her fasting.

Of course I answered her as best I could.

But I liked my colleague's answer best:

He said, quoting Matthew's account of Jesus' fasting,

that perhaps she should be EATING!

The scripture says , "And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, AFTERWARD He was HUNGRY (MATT.4:2)"!!

You see, it was afterward that he was hungry, and not before!!!

Why?
Because He was led by the Spirit into the desert and into the FAST!!

He didn't do it simply because every one was doing it;

Or because his cousin John was out there in the desert!!

He was led into it!

If you're LED into it, the GRACE OF GOD will work in you, and yet it'll still be YOU doing the fasting, and not the GRACE (I Cor. 15:10)!!!

The first voice Jesus heard after His forty-day fast was not the

voice of His Father saying,'thou art my beloved Son,' but the voice

of the devil saying,'if thou be the Son of God...'

Now, we always thought fasting to be a hotline to God: and it is.

but , alas, it is a hotline to other things also! some of them

most undesirable!

It therefore behooves us to be careful not to imagine that

everything we see, hear or feel while we're fasting is of God.

Some friends have come away with delusions of a most

disastrous nature!

Nothing wrong with fasting, per se but let us test the spirits. Let us

submit our revelations to the judgement of the more spiritual

among us.
forewarned is forearmed. being careful is not unbelief; but can be

faith of the highest order!

someone has said, and correctly so, that, "if you don't understand Islam, you are out of touch with the times."
No, one need not read the whole Qur'an, but we all must have a basic understanding of this religion to live effectively in these times. It's no longer only for Jack Bauer and his ilk at the Counter Terrorism Unit, but also for every christian! please watch the clips at www.morningstartv.com/prophetic-perspective-current-events

On February 14th, the World missionary, T.L. Osborn put off his armour to rest!

This great Evangelist did as much or more than any other International Evangelist to promote pentecost in East Africa.

His 1957 Mombasa crusade sparked off fires which have continued to warm our hearts even up to today!

such men ought to be held in highest esteem and regard!

He is a true patriarch!

He who puts on his armour can not boast like he who puts off his!

wisdom dictates that the upstart learn from the 'Retired General!'

May God grant us many more like him in this our generation!

He has entered his rest and his works do follow him: though dead, yet he still speaks to our generation:

Are we listening?

First, an African-American in the White House;

then, an African Pope in the Vatican-perhaps:

things that seemed impossible only a generation ago! what other sign do we await to understand that we're a peculiar generation?!

But let's not forget: to whom much is given, much will be required!

If we're given to live in such extra-ordinary times, much that is extra-ordinary will be required of us:

extra-ordinary devotion to the Lord,

extra-ordinary Faith,

extra-ordinary relationships;

and we can also expect to fight extra-ordinary battles!

we must develop a taste for the extra-ordinary!

The times demand it;

the devil will challenge it,

and God will bless it!
