La Colecta:

Mantén, Señor, a esta tu familia, la Iglesia, en la solidaridad de tu fe y amor para que, por medio de tu gracia, proclamemos con audacia tu Verdad y con compasión sirvamos tu justicia; por Jesucristo nuestro Señor, que contigo y el Espíritu Santo vive y reina, un solo Dios, ahora y siempre. Amén.

Antiguo Testamento: Éxodo 19:2-8a

2 Después de salir de Refidim, llegaron al desierto del Sinaí y acamparon allí mismo, frente al monte. 3 Allí Moisés subió a encontrarse con Dios, pues el Señor lo llamó desde el monte y le dijo: —Anúnciales estas mismas palabras a los descendientes de Jacob, a los israelitas: 4 “Ustedes han visto lo que yo hice con los egipcios, y cómo los he traído a ustedes a donde yo estoy, como si vinieran sobre las alas de un águila. 5 Así que, si ustedes me obedecen en todo y cumplen mi alianza, serán mi pueblo preferido entre todos los pueblos, pues toda la tierra me pertenece. 6 Ustedes me serán un reino de sacerdotes, un pueblo consagrado a mí.” Diles todo esto a los israelitas.

7 Moisés fue y llamó a los ancianos del pueblo, y les expuso todo lo que el Señor le había ordenado. 8 Entonces los israelitas contestaron a una voz: —Haremos todo lo que el Señor ha ordenado.

1 ¡Cante al Señor toda la tierra! *
Sirvan al Señor con alegría;
vengan cantando a su presencia.
2 Reconozcan que el Señor es Dios; *
Dios nos hizo y somos suyos,
su pueblo, el rebaño que apacienta.

lleguen a sus atrios alabando; *
denle gracias y bendigan su nombre.

Nuevo Testamento: Romanos 5:1-8

1 Puesto que Dios ya nos ha hecho justos gracias a la fe, tenemos paz con Dios por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. 2 Pues por Cristo hemos podido acercarnos a Dios por medio de la fe, para g***r de su favor, y estamos firmes, y nos gloriamos con la esperanza de tener parte en la gloria de Dios. 3 Y no sólo esto, sino que también nos gloriamos de los sufrimientos; porque sabemos que el sufrimiento nos da firmeza para soportar, 4 y esta firmeza nos permite salir aprobados, y el salir aprobados nos llena de esperanza. 5 Y esta esperanza no nos defrauda, porque Dios ha llenado con su amor nuestro corazón por medio del Espíritu Santo que nos ha dado.

6 Pues cuando nosotros éramos incapaces de salvarnos, Cristo, a su debido tiempo, murió por los pecadores. 7 No es fácil que alguien se deje matar en lugar de otra persona. Ni siquiera en lugar de una persona justa; aunque quizás alguien estaría dispuesto a morir por la persona que le haya hecho un gran bien. 8 Pero Dios prueba que nos ama, en que, cuando todavía éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.

El Evangelio: Mateo 9:35—10:8,(9-23)

35 Jesús recorría todos los pueblos y aldeas, enseñando en las sinagogas de cada lugar. Anunciaba la buena noticia del reino, y curaba toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias. 36 Al ver a la gente, sintió compasión de ellos, porque estaban cansados y abatidos, como ovejas que no tienen pastor. 37 Dijo entonces a sus discípulos: —Ciertamente la cosecha es mucha, pero los trabajadores son pocos. 38 Por eso, pidan ustedes al Dueño de la cosecha que mande trabajadores a recogerla.

1 Jesús llamó a sus doce discípulos, y les dio autoridad para expulsar a los espíritus impuros y para curar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias.

2 Éstos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles: primero Simón, llamado también Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago y su hermano Juan, hijos de Zebedeo; 3 Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el que cobraba impuestos para Roma; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo; 4 Simón el cananeo, y Judas Iscariote, que después traicionó a Jesús.

5 Jesús envió a estos doce con las siguientes instrucciones: «No vayan a las regiones de los paganos ni entren en los pueblos de Samaria; 6 vayan más bien a las ovejas perdidas del pueblo de Israel. 7 Vayan y anuncien que el reino de los cielos se ha acercado. 8 Sanen a los enfermos, resuciten a los mu***os, limpien de su enfermedad a los leprosos y expulsen a los demonios. Ustedes recibieron gratis este poder; no cobren tampoco por emplearlo.

9 [»No lleven oro ni plata ni cobre 10 ni provisiones para el camino. No lleven ropa de repuesto ni sandalias ni bastón, pues el trabajador tiene derecho a su alimento.

11 »Cuando lleguen ustedes a un pueblo o aldea, busquen alguna persona de confianza y quédense en su casa hasta que se vayan de allí. 12 Al entrar en la casa, saluden a los que viven en ella. 13 Si la gente de la casa lo merece, su deseo de paz se cumplirá; pero si no lo merece, ustedes nada perderán. 14 Y si no los reciben ni los quieren oír, salgan de la casa o del pueblo y sacúdanse el polvo de los pies. 15 Les aseguro que en el día del juicio el castigo para ese pueblo será peor que para la gente de la región de S***ma y Gomorra.

16 »¡Miren! Yo los envío a ustedes como ovejas en medio de lobos. Sean, pues, astutos como serpientes, aunque también sencillos como palomas. 17 Tengan cuidado, porque los entregarán a las autoridades, los golpearán en las sinagogas 18 y hasta los presentarán ante gobernadores y reyes por causa mía; así podrán dar testimonio de mí delante de ellos y de los paganos. 19 Pero cuando los entreguen a las autoridades, no se preocupen ustedes por lo que han de decir o cómo han de decirlo, porque cuando les llegue el momento de hablar, Dios les dará las palabras. 20 Pues no serán ustedes quienes hablen, sino que el Espíritu de su Padre hablará por ustedes.

21 »Los hermanos entregarán a la muerte a sus hermanos, y los padres a sus hijos; y los hijos se volverán contra sus padres y los matarán. 22 Todo el mundo los odiará a ustedes por causa mía; pero el que se mantenga firme hasta el fin, se salvará. 23 Cuando los persigan en una ciudad, huyan a otra; pues les aseguro que el Hijo del hombre vendrá antes que ustedes hayan recorrido todas las ciudades de Israel.»]

Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in your steadfast faith and love, that through your grace we may proclaim your truth with boldness, and minister your justice with compassion; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Old Testament: Exodus 19:2-8a

2They had journeyed from Rephidim, entered the wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness; Israel camped there in front of the mountain.3Then Moses went up to God; the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the Israelites:4You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, 6but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the Israelites.” 7So Moses came, summoned the elders of the people, and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him. 8The people all answered as one: “Everything that the Lord has spoken we will do.”

Psalm: Psalm 100

1 Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands; *
serve the Lord with gladness
and come before his presence with a song.
2 Know this: The Lord himself is God; *
he himself has made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
3 Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise; *
give thanks to him and call upon his Name.

Epistle: Romans 5:1-8

1Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. 3And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

6For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. 8But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.

Gospel: Matthew 9:35-10:8,(9-23)

35Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. 36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

1Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. 2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;4Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.

5These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, 6but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment. [9Take no gold, or silver, or copper in your belts, 10no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for laborers deserve their food. 11Whatever town or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. 12As you enter the house, greet it. 13If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town. 15Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of S***m and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

16“See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. 17Beware of them, for they will hand you over to councils and flog you in their synagogues; 18and you will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony to them and the Gentiles. 19When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you at that time; 20for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. 21Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; 22and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.23When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly I tell you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.]

Antiguo Testamento: Oseas 5:15-6:6

Dice el Señor:
15 «Volveré luego a mi lugar,
hasta que ellos reconozcan su pecado
y vengan a buscarme.
¡En medio de su angustia, me buscarán!»

1 Vengan todos y volvámonos al Señor.
Él nos destrozó, pero también nos sanará;
nos hirió, pero también nos curará.
2 En un momento nos devolverá la salud,
nos levantará para vivir delante de él.
3 ¡Esforcémonos por conocer al Señor!
El Señor vendrá a nosotros,
tan cierto como que sale el sol,
tan cierto como que la lluvia riega la tierra
en otoño y primavera.

Dice el Señor:
«¿Qué haré contigo, Efraín?
¿Qué haré contigo, Judá?
El amor que ustedes me tienen
es como la niebla de la mañana,

Nuevo Testamento: Romanos 4:13-25

13 Dios prometió a Abraham y a sus descendientes que recibirían el mundo como herencia; pero esta promesa no estaba condicionada al cumplimiento de la ley, sino a la justicia que se basa en la fe. 14 Pues si los que han de recibir la herencia son los que se basan en la ley, entonces la fe resultaría cosa inútil y la promesa de Dios perdería su valor. 15 Porque la ley trae castigo; pero donde no hay ley, tampoco hay faltas contra la ley.

16 Por eso, para que la promesa hecha a Abraham conservara su valor para todos sus descendientes, fue un don gratuito, basado en la fe. Es decir, la promesa no es solamente para los que se basan en la ley, sino también para todos los que se basan en la fe, como Abraham. De esa manera, él viene a ser padre de todos nosotros, 17 como dice la Escritura: «Te he hecho padre de muchas naciones.» Éste es el Dios en quien Abraham creyó, el Dios que da vida a los mu***os y crea las cosas que aún no existen.

18 Cuando ya no había esperanza, Abraham creyó y tuvo esperanza, y así vino a ser «padre de muchas naciones», conforme a lo que Dios le había dicho: «Así será el número de tus descendientes.» 19 La fe de Abraham no se debilitó, aunque ya tenía casi cien años de edad y se daba cuenta de que tanto él como Sara ya estaban casi mu***os, y que eran demasiado viejos para tener hijos. 20 No dudó ni desconfió de la promesa de Dios, sino que tuvo una fe más fuerte. Alabó a Dios, 21 plenamente convencido de que Dios tiene poder para cumplir lo que promete. 22 Por eso, Dios le tuvo esto en cuenta y lo reconoció como justo.

23 Y esto de que Dios se lo tuvo en cuenta, no se escribió solamente de Abraham; 24 se escribió también de nosotros. Pues Dios también nos tiene en cuenta la fe, si creemos en aquel que resucitó a Jesús, nuestro Señor, 25 que fue entregado a la muerte por nuestros pecados y resucitado para hacernos justos.

El Evangelio: Mateo 9:9-13,18-26

9 Jesús se fue de allí y vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, que estaba sentado en el lugar donde cobraba los impuestos para Roma. Jesús le dijo: —Sígueme.

Entonces Mateo se levantó y lo siguió.

10 Sucedió que Jesús estaba comiendo en la casa, y muchos de los que cobraban impuestos para Roma, y otra gente de mala fama, llegaron y se sentaron también a la mesa junto con Jesús y sus discípulos. 11 Al ver esto, los fariseos preguntaron a los discípulos: —¿Cómo es que su maestro come con cobradores de impuestos y pecadores?

12 Jesús lo oyó y les dijo: —Los que están buenos y sanos no necesitan médico, sino los enfermos. 13 Vayan y aprendan el significado de estas palabras: “Lo que quiero es que sean compasivos, y no que ofrezcan sacrificios.” Pues yo no he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los pecadores. […]

18 Mientras Jesús les estaba hablando, un jefe de los judíos llegó, se arrodilló ante él y le dijo: —Mi hija acaba de morir; pero si tú vienes y pones tu mano sobre ella, volverá a la vida.

19 Jesús se levantó, y acompañado de sus discípulos se fue con él. 20 Entonces una mujer que desde hacía doce años estaba enferma, con derrames de sangre, se acercó a Jesús por detrás y le tocó el borde de la capa. 21 Porque pensaba: «Tan sólo con que llegue a tocar su capa, quedaré sana.» 22 Pero Jesús se dio la vuelta, vio a la mujer y le dijo: —Ánimo, hija, por tu fe has sido sanada.

Y desde aquel mismo momento quedó sana.

23 Cuando Jesús llegó a casa del jefe de los judíos, y vio que los músicos estaban preparados ya para el entierro y que la gente lloraba a gritos, 24 les dijo: —Sálganse de aquí, pues la muchacha no está mu**ta, sino dormida.

La gente se rió de Jesús, 25 pero él los hizo salir; luego entró y tomó de la mano a la muchacha, y ella se levantó. 26 Y por toda aquella región corrió la noticia de lo que había pasado.

Old Testament: Hosea 5:15-6:6

15I will return again to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face. In their distress they will beg my favor:

1“Come, let us return to the Lord; for it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up. 2After two days he will revive uson the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. 3Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord; his appearing is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us like the showers, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

4What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes away early.5Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have killed them by the words of my mouth, and my judgment goes forth as the light. 6For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Psalm: Psalm 50:7-15

7 Hear, O my people, and I will speak:
“O Israel, I will bear witness against you; *
for I am God, your God.
8 I do not accuse you because of your sacrifices; *
your offerings are always before me.
9 I will take no bull-calf from your stalls, *
nor he-goats out of your pens;
10 For all the beasts of the forest are mine, *
the herds in their thousands upon the hills.
11 I know every bird in the sky, *
and the creatures of the fields are in my sight.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, *

Epistle: Romans 4:13-25

13For the promise that he would inherit the world did not come to Abraham or to his descendants through the law but through the righteousness of faith. 14If it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. 15For the law brings wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there violation. 16For this reason it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (for he is the father of all of us,

17as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”) —in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. 18Hoping against hope, he believed that he would become “the father of many nations,” according to what was said, “So numerous shall your descendants be.” 19He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was already as good as dead (for he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. 20No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, 21being fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. 22Therefore his faith “was reckoned to him as righteousness.”

23Now the words, “it was reckoned to him,” were written not for his sake alone, 24but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25who was handed over to death for our trespasses and was raised for our justification.

Gospel: Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26

9As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. 10And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sitting with him and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.13Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.”

18While he was saying these things to them, suddenly a leader of the synagogue came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” 19And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples. 20Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, 21for she said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.” 22Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. 23When Jesus came to the leader’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, 24he said, “Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. 25But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. 26And the report of this spread throughout that district.
