Establishment:
In the sacred night of Shab-e-Barat, on 15 Shahban-ul-Moazzam 1383 Hijree (January 1, 1964) the Jamia Mosque of Sabzi Mandi, Rawalpindi became the center of blessings and divine pleasure. On this auspicious occasion the pious, God fearing and foreseeing persons like Maulana Syed Zia-ud-Din Shah Sultanpuri Chishti and Maulana Fareed-ud-Din Chishti (God be pleased with them) a
long with many other scholars of Islam exhibited the foundation board of Madrasah with the prayers of its progress by leaps and bounds. On Shawwal 24, 1383 hijri (March 9, 1964) regular teaching started with the Holy name of Allah. Institution of Zia-ul-Uloom had the privilege of being one of significant centers of Islamic learning with the eminent scholars and great jurists of Islamic law like Maulana Syed Ghulam Muhy-ud-Din Shah, (founder and administrator) and pride of Ahl-e-Sunnah, Maulana Syed Hasseen-ud-Din Shah, teaching in this institution. Their commitment and revolutionary outlook provided a solid base for the classes of Al-Shahadat-ul-Aalia, which started immediately. Due to the limited resources and lack of residential facilities many students had to return with utter dismay. About the name of Jamia:
thing has its own trait which differentiates it from all others. In the second conference on 6th Sep 1963 many congressmen formulate different names. Some of them are:

After a great consideration the name of Jamia is nominated as “Jamia Rizwia Zia-ul-Uloom”. According to Dictionary:
"Jamia Rizwia" a institution who collects the acquiescence or acceptance of Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessing of Allah be Upon Him). "Zia-ul-Uloom" the above mentioned acceptance is only due to the thriving ness of Education. According to technical point of view:

“Rizwia” this blessed name is relationed with the blessed name of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan.
