إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاہُ فِی لَیْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ وَمَا أَدْرَاکَ مَا لَیْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ لَیْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَیْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَہْرٍ تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِکَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِیہَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّہِم مِّن کُلِّ أَمْرٍ سَلَامٌ ہِیَ حَتَّی مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ?.
ترجمہ:
ہم نے اس(قرآن) کو شب قدر میں نازل (کرنا شروع) کیا.
اور تمہیں کیا معلوم کہ شب قدر کیا ہے؟
شب قدر ہزار مہینے سے بہتر ہے
اس میں روح (الامین) اور فرشتے ہر کام کے (انتظام کے) لیے اپنے پروردگار کے حکم سے اترتے ہیں.
یہ(رات) طلوع صبح تک (امان اور) سلامتی ہے.

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: سلیک آئے جمعہ کو اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم خطبہ پڑھ رہے تھے اور وہ آ کر بیٹھ گئے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اے سلیک! اٹھو اور دو رکعت پڑھ لو، اور مختصر پڑھ لو، پھر فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کوئی آدمی آئے جمعہ کے دن اور امام خطبہ پڑھتا ہو تو ضروری ہے دو رکعت مختصر ادا کرے۔“
