ہم، سینٹ مائیکل کے پیرشینرز، گذشتہ نو ماہ سے مسلسل تحریری و زبانی طور پر درخواست کر رہے ہیں کہ موجودہ پیرش انچارج فادر یعقوب شہزاد کو فوری طور پر تبدیل کیا جائے۔ 9 سے 12 درخواستیں جمع کروانے اور 24-08-25 کو ڈائیوسیس میں ذاتی ملاقات کے باوجود آج تک کوئی عملی اقدام نہیں کیا گیا۔
فادر یعقوب شہزاد اپنی ذمہ داریوں میں مکمل طور پر ناکام ثابت ہوئے ہیں:
جنازوں پر دعا نہیں کرتے (Canon 528 §2 کی خلاف ورزی)۔
نوجوانوں کو دلسرد کرتے ہیں (Canon 529 §2 کے منافی)۔
پیرشینرز کے ساتھ بدسلوکی کرتے ہیں (Canon 529 §1 کے خلاف)۔
اور اپنی بنیادی ذمہ داریوں میں شدید غفلت برتتے ہیں (Canon 528 §1 کی خلاف ورزی)۔
اسی طرح، آپ بطور آرچ بشپ اپنی ذمہ داریوں کو بھی پورا نہیں کر رہے:
Canon 383 §1 کے مطابق آپ پر لازم ہے کہ آپ اپنی ڈائیوسیس کے سب مومنین کی دیکھ بھال کریں۔
Canon 387 کے مطابق آپ کو مثال بننا چاہیے اور وفاداروں کے لیے سچا Shepherd ہونا چاہیے۔
Canon 392 §1 کے مطابق آپ پر فرض ہے کہ چرچ کے قوانین کا نفاذ یقینی بنائیں۔
Canon 396 کے مطابق آپ کو مومنین کی شکایات سن کر ان کا حل نکالنا چاہیے۔
ہمارا صبر اب ختم ہو چکا ہے۔ اگر فوری طور پر فادر یعقوب شہزاد کو ہٹا کر ایک موزوں، عبادت گزار اور ذمہ دار انچارج مقرر نہ کیا گیا تو ہم اجتماعی طور پر سخت اقدام کرنے پر مجبور ہوں گے، جن میں شامل ہو سکتا ہے:
چرچ کے باہر پُرامن احتجاج۔
معاملہ اعلیٰ کلیسائی حکام (روم/ویٹیکن) تک پہنچانا۔
پاکستان اور بین الاقوامی میڈیا کے ذریعے اپنی آواز بلند کرنا۔
اس کے نتیجے میں ہونے والے ہر نقصان اور بگاڑ کی مکمل ذمہ داری آپ پر عائد ہو گی۔

Subject: Urgent Request for Appointment of a New Parish Priest for St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Peshawar
Your Grace,
With deep reverence and filial obedience, we, the parishioners of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Peshawar, approach you once again regarding the grave pastoral concerns of our parish.
On 24 August 2025, we personally visited the diocesan office and submitted written petitions requesting pastoral intervention concerning our current parish priest, Rev. Fr. Yaqoob Shahzad. Regrettably, until now, no action has been taken, and the situation has continued to deteriorate.
The faithful of St. Michael’s are suffering greatly: our youth are discouraged and denied opportunities for active participation in the Church; families are disheartened; and, tragically, some members have already begun leaving the Catholic Church for other denominations. This crisis threatens the very unity and spiritual life of our parish.
The Code of Canon Law makes clear both the rights of the faithful and the responsibilities of their pastors:
Canon 212 §2-3: The faithful have the right, indeed the duty, to make known their spiritual needs and concerns to their pastors.
Canon 528 §1-2 & Canon 529 §1: A parish priest is bound to faithfully proclaim the Gospel, administer the sacraments reverently, foster Christian unity, and truly know and serve his people.
Canon 384: The diocesan bishop has a special duty of care toward priests, ensuring they faithfully fulfill their obligations and that the spiritual needs of the faithful are met.
Canons 515–522: The bishop is entrusted with the authority and duty to appoint a suitable pastor who can effectively provide pastoral care for the parish.
Your Grace, it is evident to us that St. Michael’s Parish requires new pastoral leadership. Therefore, with humility but also with urgency, we respectfully and firmly request the appointment of a new parish priest without delay. We ask that Your Grace kindly assign a shepherd who can restore unity, re-energize our youth, strengthen our families, and safeguard the Catholic faith within this parish.
We believe this action is not only necessary but also in full accord with your pastoral responsibility as Archbishop to ensure that the faithful are not abandoned or left in a state of spiritual harm.
This petition, dated 12 September 2025, reflects the unified voice of the faithful of St. Michael’s Parish, who remain loyal to the Church and committed to her mission. We continue to pray fervently for Your Grace’s wisdom, health, and ministry.
