Mithi, Sindh, is one of the few regions in Pakistan where Hindus form the majority, with close to 80% of the population belonging to the Hindu community. In this tranquil part of the sprawling desert, Hindus and Muslims have lived together like brothers since the creation of Pakistan. It is a town where Muslims, out of respect for their Hindu neighbors, do not slaughter cows, and where Hindus, out of respect for Muslim rites, refrain from organizing marriage ceremonies or celebrations during the month of Muharram.
Additionally, the Hindus of Mithi happily participate in providing food and drinks for Muslims during Ramadan, and both communities exchange sweets on Eid and Diwali. The crime rate in Mithi is as low as two percent, and incidents of religious intolerance are unheard of. During religious festivals or fairs at the temple, people of all religions visit, share food, and eat together. Similarly, whenever there is a Muslim festival, the entire Hindu community joins in.
The Hindus of Mithi have a rich background. They are business-oriented, educators, and philanthropists who have always believed in the values of humanity, interfaith harmony, tranquility, and peace.
Most of the Hindu population in the country lives in Sindh province, where they reside peacefully, without fear or threat.
