Thousands of Israeli citizens reported receiving threatening text messages today as part of a suspected wide-scale psychological warfare campaign. The messages, which often originated from British (+44) phone numbers, contained the ominous warning: "We are coming. Look at the sky in the midnight".
Israeli media and cyber experts have attributed this operation to Iranian agents, describing it as an intimidation tactic designed to instill fear rather than a warning of an actual imminent kinetic attack. Some messages also included the recipients' personal information, such as national ID numbers, attempting to demonstrate that their private data had been compromised.
Israel's National Cyber Authority officially addressed the incident, dismissing it as a "low-level effort to create panic" and urging the public to ignore the texts. The specific reference to "midnight" and the sky is believed to be a callback to the ballistic missile attacks of June 2025, aiming to trigger traumatic memories among the population.
