As you all know about the trending hantavirus. We have been receiving bunch of posts about hantavirus and its spread. Here are some things you should know about.
• Hantavirus is not a new virus. It causes hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (hps) which was first recognized as an infectious disease in the early 1950s.
• It is spread by rodents. Mainly by its urine, feaces and saliva.it do not cause any disease in rodents themselves.
• It cannot be transferred from one human to another via closed contact. For example, you cannot get these viruses from touching or kissing a person who has it.
• It is common in rural areas ( i.e. villages and forests)
• The risk of hantavirus infection can be minimized by following these precautions:
o avoid touching live or dead rodents.
o If you sleep outdoors, check potential campsites for rodent droppings and burrows.
o Disinfect droppings and nesting materials by spraying with a disinfectant, wearing kitchen gloves.
We here request you all to please stop creating panic while there's already a much worse situation of covid-19. Stop this trend and create awarness about covid-19.
