N in 2005 that the area was home to at least 100,000 Christians. Two churches were attacked on 15 March 2015, a Sunday, by su***de bombers. Initial reports are that they tried to enter the churches but were stopped and then blew themselves up at the gates. As the churches had religious services, there were high attendance. At least 15 people, including two policemen, were killed and 78 injured, 30 of them critically. The militant Islamist group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar said they were behind the attacks. Members of the Pakistani Christian community have staged protests in response to the attacks. Two men accused of being involved in the attacks were killed by a crowd.[2][3
