WAZIR KHAN MOSQUE

This spectacular monument was built by the famous Subedar (Governor) of the Punjab (1041/1632), Hakim Aliuddin (sometimes also referred to as Ilmuddin) in 1634. Traversing the bustling bazaar through a gateway, beyond which the towering minaret of Wazir Khan’s mosque beckons you, you turn left into the chowk named after the builder of the mosque. The chowk outside the mosque probably once formed an important part of the plan of the old city of Lahore. The mosque was so located in the centre of the city that all the major routes and bazaars were linked with it at right angles
