DEALING WITH UNBELIEF - Part 2
discipline your source

"Choose to listen to things that boost your belief." — Proverbs 13:20

In the introductory part of this series, we saw that it's a spiritual disease to desire something and believe otherwise. That is, your belief system is contradicting what you desire. "... help thou my unbelief..."(Mark 9:24) was the cry of one who couldn't align his belief with his desires. As long as our belief is acting opposite to our desires, we postpone the experience. But the woman with the issue of blood had a belief system that acted in line with her desire.

Unbelief in what you desire can be frustrating. It keeps the desired experience in the realm of a dream; it confines desires in hope. And the Word of God tells us, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick; but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12).

Our confidence in God is threatened when we don't see come to pass our expected desires. But it's not enough to have a desire. The disciples came to the Lord Jesus to find out the reason why they were not able to cast out the devil from the possessed child. The answer was simple and brief: "...because of your unbelief" (Matthew 17:20).

•...................•
"Unbelief hasn't ceased to be the reason why we still don't experience our desires."
•....................•

The first step to dealing with unbelief is to discipline your information source. It's said he that keeps company with fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20 -Light verse *He who walks with the wise grows wise. but a companion of fools suffers harm*). It's evident that a person who keeps company with people who do not boost their belief in what they desire will walk in unbelief. If you keep desiring a thing and listening to those who don't believe it, you will walk in unbelief regardless of how strong the desire in your heart is.

A companion of fools does not exclusively refer to "people companion." It also includes the sources of information we expose our ears to. We can't listen to unbelief all the time and expect to believe. Whatsoever be your desires, you've got to discipline your ears, eyes, and environment to the things that enforce the possibility of what you desire. If you are desiring healing, a successful career, business, relationship, etc, then to see that come true, you have to discipline your information source to the things that boost your convictions. If you listen more to possibilities, you become less aware of impossibilities.
..now you can walk the light walk.

| CONFESSION | Henceforth, I choose to give my attention to the things that boost my conviction in what I desire, and I cut off from sources that fuel unbelief, in Jesus' Name.

*CREATE CHANGE STRATEGIES - Part 2.*

*LIGHT OF THE DAY:* _"You have the responsibility to give light to the people in your world."_ Acts 18:10.

If a place is still dark after we arrive there, then we are yet to shine. We shouldn't have the _"I don't care attitude",_ it's the attitude that prioritizes survival above purpose. This is a poor way to approach this world as a heavenly ambassador. We don't choose careers or jobs because we want to survive or get an increased pay; no. Everyone wants good pay in life, but the pay is not the primary reason for our being here, and should not be at the detriment of divine purpose.

The Lord Jesus said He came down from heaven to do the will of the Father (John 6:38). What we do for the Lord in the companies we work for, or businesses we do is more important than the natural pay we receive. Paul the Apostle said, *"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there's laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing"* (2 Timothy 4:7/8). You see, there's the Lord's reward.

•...................•
*_"Your salary or business profit is of what men judge and give to you, but the reward is of what God judges."_*
•....................•

No company or family is bad in itself; bad people make a bad family or company. It, therefore, takes a changed people to have a changed family or company. If we will light up our world, we've got to light up people. So the Lord encouraging the Apostle Paul to stay in a particular city said, *"...For I have many people in this city"* (Acts 18:10 - Light verse). What motivates you? The Lord's people or the paycheck? The primary standard of a man's reward will be judged by his impact on people.

God is not more interested in the company you work for than the people you work with. God is not more interested in the money your business makes than the people your business reaches daily. What effect has your life over these people? We are not sent to companies, we are sent to people through companies. The question is, what strategies for change do you have? Yes, we have to keep the company running; true; it has to run until the light in you lights up the people. Our careers, families, schools, businesses are opportunities to relate with men and to bring the light of the Gospel into the lives of men. So, create your change strategy where you are, and fulfill your purpose.

_...now you can walk the light walk._

*| CONFESSION |* By the wisdom of God in me, I conceive divine strategies to influence my environment with the glorious light of Christ. I am a wise and conscious Kingdom ambassador, bringing change into my world. Amen.

*CREATE CHANGE STRATEGIES*

*LIGHT OF THE DAY:* _"You are born to reveal God's glory wherever you are."_ - Isaiah 60:2

Do you have a plan to bring the glory of God which is upon you into your family, company, business, school, or nation? This is the responsibility we have in this world - to cause light to outshine every darkness (2 Corinthians 4:6). As a people of light, we are not to seek only comfortable places but also the broken and small, in order to mend them and make them great. In a dark world, light has both the opportunity and responsibility to shine.

The Bible says, *"...you are the light of the world..."* (Mathew 5:14). Light is irrelevant within the light. Light is necessary to cause darkness to flee. It is said, *"...light shines in the darkness, and the darkness comprehends it not"* (John 1:5). Isaiah 60:1 says, *"Arise and shine; for your light is come... Verse 2 (Light verse): For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen upon you."*

•...................•
_"Mature Kingdom children don't seek only green places; they believe they can turn a dry land into a fruitful field."_
•....................•

_If every child of God is light_ (1 Thessalonians 5:5), then we have the responsibility to bring light into dark places, and not to flee from dark places. There are some Christians who deny working for certain companies saying, _"The objective is not righteous."_ Well, who then is the light of the world here? That's a dark company, and it's an opportunity to shine if you know who you are and what you are here for. It is said that evil prevails when good people do nothing. Christians have to be bold enough to invade these _"bad companies",_ and not run from them; that's where light is needed the most!

It doesn't matter what your company pays you (big or small), the question is: are you shining there? What light are you bringing into that place or thing? If you met a company, business, or family at the bottom, can you raise it to the top by the wisdom of God in you? Don't turn down opportunities because they are not great; make mediocre things or people great. Every child of God is born great; within you is the ability to make small things great. Bring the necessary change into your family, relationship, school, business, or company, by the wisdom at work in you. Start by _CREATING CHANGE STRATEGIES._ What light do you want to shine? How do you plan to do it? When will you start?
..now you can walk the light walk...

FELLOWSHIP

Dear Father, I thank You for Your glory at work in my life; the ability to shine and to make small things great. I bring forth strategies by Your Spirit, to invade dark and small places, turning them to fruitful fields, in the name of Jesus Christ.

THE PRAYERFUL BEST FRIEND
Understand the vital quality of a best friend

Describe your friend
As a Christian, how do you describe your friend(s)?. If you don't have "prayerful" in it, it won't take you any far. Friends who cannot and do not pray for you aren't the best of friends yet. Unfortunately, you have people who celebrate every other quality than prayers. A praying friend can save you from a distance. Read this over again. A praying friend can tell the pain before anyone else, and commit to addressing it by prayers. A praying friend can get you through difficult times supernaturally than any other friend will. No other kind of friend can sharpen and encourage your walk-in purpose as a praying friend. Now imagine prayer-less couples. If the closest person to you can't tell your pain and respond first, something needs to be addressed about the friendship.

God's purpose for relationships
You see, in many ways, we have missed out on God's purpose for relationships. That's why we must keep our eyes on God in his words. A best friend should be the closest person to you. For what reason? For company and "prompt" comfort. Why does God want you to have a praying friend? When God can't reach you in your weak and difficult seasons when your spirit is noisy, troubled, or unsettled, He can reach you through a praying friend. Remember this. Praying friends are doors from Heaven to you in times of need. Unfortunately, a prayer-less friend can be a door from hell to you. If you doubt this, ask Jesus what happened to Peter (Matthew 16:23).

Fake friends
Imagine that Jesus couldn't tell the difference when Satan spoke through Peter. Do you think Satan couldn't come that close because He was Jesus? Then you're joking! Imagine how many times a friend in your life has been such a door! They may be genuine and sincere; they're not fake friends, yet compromised. As Peter was, they too never knew they were actually speaking for Satan. Think about this and how badly Satan can drive your life in the wrong direction, simply because you have sincere but prayer-less friends! That's why Jesus said to them, "Pray; your spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." It's through a prayerful life that a friend rises above the voice of Satan and becomes a good channel of the grace of God towards you.

Best attention
A million dollars won't pay for this lesson shared with you today; so give it your best attention. This is talking to someone missing it or about to terribly miss it. Because of this connection, God is bringing you the help you need if you will only listen and act on this. On the other hand, you may be the prayer-less friend (or spouse) who is always saying or doing the wrong thing and ignorantly (yet sincerely) driving your friend (or spouse) towards hell every day; every time you speak it is as though Satan just opened his mouth. You need a hard rebuke to be free, just as Jesus did to Peter. You can become a true channel of grace to your friend(s); This, you cannot be unless you become a prayerful person.

Quality of your friendships
You are not the closest to that person for nothing. You're either Ignorantly cursing your friend, or intentionally blessing him or her. I'll encourage you today to really mind the quality of your friendships. Forget capitalizing on mere acquaintances or longevity only; how prayerful is the person? Your life or death can be strongly dependent on this. It's a nightmare and an effective trap to be a Christian yet the closest person to you is not prayerful. There's no spiritual sensitivity in prayer lessness. Being "moral" and "nice" doesn’t equal spiritual sensitivity. How less moral or nice was Peter? Being prayerful is our wisdom to stay above the influence of the voice or activity of Satan, and enjoy the godly frequency of life.

Ugly friends
You can adjust things and improve that friendship now. You may just have to let go of some really ugly friends; they're not in for any change soon. Meaning, you may have to deal with a long walk in hell as long as you keep that friend in your life. To keep such ungodly friends is like carrying Satan's door along with all your life! So Satan has easy and quick access to you when he wants. To the friends who are godly, you can improve the friendship by emphasizing a godly conversation and a godly discipline towards prayer. Talk about each other's prayer life and how you can improve yourselves, understanding the risk you'll be to each other without a good prayer life. As couples, take the lead. If your spouse isn't the closest person to you as a best friend, there's some work to be done.

A good friend
It's absolutely wrong for the closest person to you to not be your best. How reasonable is that? You can work on it. Of course, everything works when we work it out correctly. Though the husband is the best place to motivate prayer fullness in the relationship, it really can be motivated by the wife too. Don't wait on each other to do your part. When you understand that you'll be Satan's door if you don't pray, you'll love to pray! Don't wait! A good friend seeks to lay down his life for the other. One of such ways is to not be the reason why Satan (through you) affects your friend or spouse. Truth is, prayerful friends have the best of lives. Prayerful friends are face to face with Heaven. Far or near, they're a blessing to each other; whenever they talk, it's like God is talking to and through each of them. Prayerful friends are huge grace pipes or channels. Even Satan knows he's in trouble with such friends. But a prayer-less friendship is Satan's playground. Now wake up to the right friendship(s)! You can live a triumphant life if you treat this lesson as "This is it! This is what I needed!"

Principle if you want to achieve effective results through religious prayer.

1) There must be a special desire.

Specific desire is the most important part of religious prayer. Jesus said: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe what he saith. They will be fulfilled. He will receive whatever he says ”(Mark 11:23).

When we pray, Jesus emphasizes the need for specificity of desire. Notice in the words above that he did not say, "Whoever speaks to a mountain", but "Whoever speaks to that mountain." Thus, in the prayer of faith, it is very important that you have a clear and specific desire in your heart. You can't be vague in your conversations. You can follow God's Word with simplicity and faith and always expect results.

If you are a pastor, for example, and you want to double the size of your church membership, you need to know the exact number of people in the church right now. So if you have a fifty-member party at the moment, it means you are expecting a hundred members at a given time. That's what it means to be specific! Or maybe, you just want to increase your finances. Then you should ask questions like what is my average annual income currently? How much more do I want to receive in the coming year?

Quality is an important principle if you want to achieve effective results through religious prayer. Remember, Jesus said, "Whatever the mountain says." That means you are not talking about the mountain or asking God to try to do something about the mountain. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.

How do you see the unseen? Through the eyes of faith!

2) See the unseen.

Here is another important principle to observe in connection with the prayer of faith. You have to see the unseen! You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.

How do you see the unseen? Through the eyes of faith! Because you don't have what you can't see.

"When we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:18)

Abraham, the great patron saint of old, had to witness God's promise to become the father of many nations. And He (Abraham) brought him (Abraham) abroad and said, "Now look at the sky, and tell the stars, if you can count them," and he said to him, "You will be a descendant." He believed in the Lord and counted him for righteousness "(Genesis 15: 5-6).

When Joshua planned to attack Jericho, the Lord said to him, "Look, I have given Jericho, and its king, and the mighty men into your hand" (Joshua 6: 2). Shows how important it is to create a mental image according to our desires. And here's the ultimate reason: the limit of your vision is the limit of your blessing!

I like the testimony of Dr. David Yong Cho. He tells the story that, many years ago, when he had just started a ministry and was running a small church, he asked God to give him a chair, a table, and a bicycle. But God asked him what kind of chair, table, and bicycle he wanted, and he gave God his explanations.

Realizing that he had received it, he appeared before his congregation on Sunday morning and announced, "Praise God, I have a chair, a table, and a bicycle."

Its members, young Christians who were just beginning to learn the Word of God, asked incredulously, "But you went to church today. Where is the bicycle?"

Of course, he had nothing to show his members, but he claimed to have everything he mentioned. So after the service that day, some of its members decided to go home with him and find out if he really had those things.

Upon arriving at his house and finding none of them, they asked him, "Where are the chair, table, and bicycle?"

"They are inside me," he replied. "I'm pregnant with a chair, a table, and a bicycle!"

Its members had to hold their stomachs for laughter, and they walked around saying to the people, "Let's meet our pastor. She's pregnant with a chair, a table, and a bicycle! Have they ever seen anyone like that?" Pastor Cho could actually see the existence of these things. He had seen the unseen through the eyes of faith. I became a reality.

Understand this: "Seeing the unseen" is not the same as "being optimistic". It literally means "seeing God as He sees them, and talking about the non-existent as if they already exist."

In his letter to the Roman Church, Paul shared some instructive things about the faith by God:

"... even God, who raises the dead, and cries out to them as if they were not" (Romans 4:17).

When you are so convinced that something is yours, even if you do not see it with your physical eyes, it is absolutely impossible for the devil or anyone to talk to him, because you already believe it. Have gained from, using the power of their thinking.

The Prayer of Faith

Faith

As believers in Christ, our life is a life of faith. “Faith” is one of the outstanding virtues that distinguish us from the unbeliever. For it’s by faith that we accepted God’s gracious salvation through Christ, thereby receiving eternal life (the God-kind of life) into our spirits. Our walk with God is a walk of faith. In Romans 1:16-17, Apostle Paul stated, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe...For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” This scripture thus confirms faith as a great underlying factor at the core of our existence as believers. “But without faith, it is impossible to please him...” (Hebrews 11:6).

In our prayer life, the principle of faith holds sway in a significant context. The prayer of faith is one among the different kinds of prayer, and it has its peculiar rules and requirements. This prayer involves making a request to God and speaking to circumstances in order to make them conform to our desires, without doubts in our hearts.

In Mark 11:22, Jesus counseled His disciples to “...HAVE FAITH IN GOD.” But it’s interesting to know that the literal translation of His statement actually reads, “HAVE THE FAITH OF GOD.” In other words, have the God-kind of faith.

When you understand this kind of faith the Lord Jesus was talking about and learn how to operate in it, you’ll become well-equipped and ready to get results through your prayer of faith. I’ve taught extensively on the subject of different kinds of faith in another book: “How to Make Your Faith Work.” But let’s see what Jesus says here about having faith in God.

In the subsequent verses following His profound statement, Jesus went on to tell us something so vital about the God-kind of faith.

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall ‘believe’ that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, ‘believe’ that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:22-24).

The Master repeatedly uses the word “believe,” emphasizing to us that “believing” is a fundamental requirement for having our desires met when we pray. Thus, one crucial question to ask at this point would be: What does it mean to believe?

You’ve got to understand that the Christian concept of “believing” is different from the unbeliever’s idea of “believing.” Anybody can believe a thing; the Bible says, “Thou believes that there is one God; thou does well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:19-20). You can see that even the demons “believe”, but what distinguishes your “believing” as a child of God is your “works.” And this is the type of “believing” Jesus was referring to in Mark 11:23-24—the belief that acts and takes possession.

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, ‘believe’ that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24)

Notice Jesus didn’t say, “When you pray, wait until you get your request before you believe.” Rather, he told us to believe that we receive right at the point of praying, and we would have our request. This is faith! Faith means “I have it, though I may not see it with my physical eyes now.” Therefore, “to believe” in the context of Jesus’ teaching in Mark 11:23-24 doesn’t connote an individual living in the realm of hope; rather, it talks about a possessor—one who accepts that something “exists,” and thus “acts as such.”
