The Rights of Women in Islam

The Rights of Women in Islam The complex relationship between women and Islam is defined by both Islamic texts and the history and culture of the Muslim world.

According to the Quran, men and women have the same spirit, there is no superiority in the spiritual sense between men and women. [Noble Quran 4:1, 7:189, 42:11] The Quran states both that men and women are equal, but also, as in 4:34, that "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend from their means. Therefore the

righteous women are devoutly obedient and guard in the husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard." Although the Quran does say this, the superiority of men is interpreted in terms of strength by the context – men maintain women.[5] This verse however refers to a relationship between a husband and wife, not as a society in whole.

*"Zina begins with a glance, a text, a private chat. It grows silently, and destroys loudly."*

Allah says: *"Do not go near adultery..."* (Al-Isra 17:32) — Not just avoid it, but don’t even approach what leads to it.

The salaf were deeply conscious of this.
*Ibn Sirin* رحمه الله said: *“I never looked at anything I wouldn’t want to remember on the Day of Judgment.”*

*Al-Fudayl ibn ‘Iyād* رحمه الله once said:
*“If you’re alone and tempted to sin, remember that Allah sees you. That’s enough to restrain the sincere.”*

*Protect your gaze. Guard your heart. Preserve your soul.* Zina destroys blessings in ways we don’t see:
– It darkens the heart
– It removes barakah from time
– It invites regret
– It distances you from Allah

*Don’t test your soul. Train it.* *Real love is built on taqwa, not temptation.*
*What’s halal is always worth the wait.*
