We cannot preach with Holy Ghost power unless we preach the Word. He is committed to the Word. He is not just a sweet influence or the gentle ambiance of a church building, but He is the living link between God and the Word. That is His eternal association. When we preach the Word, the Spirit is in it, in the Gospel. By that Gospel we say “Let there be light”, and there is light breaking like dawn on people hearing us. The Carpenter of Nazareth made the Life-Gate from the wood of the Cross. The Redeemer covered with His own blood all the blood which had ever stained the ground. His epic makes every drama seem the scribbling of children.
