Can you recall what the true purpose behind fasting in Ramadan is?

“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.” [Quran 2:83]

The true purpose behind fasting is to attain taqwa (God-consciousness) and become closer to Allah. Most of us have probably heard this a dozen of times, but the real challenge is to act according to it.

How can you fast in order to increase your taqwa?

It is easy to make Ramadan into a routine, you wake up for suhoor, abstain from food and drink, and then break your fast.

But why are you doing this?

It is important to keep reminding yourself of the true purpose behind this, and keep on renewing your intentions. That is because it is easy to lose sense of purpose when we don’t nourish it regularly.

Purpose is like a child; it needs constant care and attention, otherwise Shaytan’s persistent efforts to make us lose our sense of purpose will take over.

Among the things that help us to fulfill the purpose of Ramadan is to remember that the devils are chained up, so it becomes relatively easier in Ramadan to strengthen our iman. Take advantage of this opportunity.

Also, as humans we often take things in life for granted and forget to thank our Creator. But in Ramadan, fasting instills in us a sense of gratitude by making us appreciate the value of food and drink.

Gratitude elevates our taqwa, so remember to always thank Allah.

Ramadan is also the month of forgiveness, and Allah will forgive our past sins if we beg Him sincerely. So, it is the best time to repent to Allah, make du’as and recharge our relationship with Allah.

May Allah make you and your family amongst those who always remember the true purpose of fasting. Ameen.

It is also important to spread taqwa amongst the people. To attain taqwa for ourselves and also be a cause for others to attain it is the ultimate combination. Therefore, it is very important to give charity towards guiding mankind to attain taqwa.

Through our da’wah activities we see thousands of people coming closer to Allah and even non-Muslims embracing Islam. Those non-Muslims who embrace Islam through our da’wah save their souls from eternal torment.

Imagine being the cause of just one person being saved from the Hellfire!

This is such a great achievement that the Prophet ﷺ said: “I swear on Allah, it will be better for you that Allah should give guidance to one man through your agency than that you should acquire the red ones among the camels.” [Abu Dawood 3661]

The red camels were regarded as the most amazing and unique camels in Arabia at that time.

For us, imagine getting the newest red Ferrari in the market, how pleased would that make you? It will be better to only have one person guided through you than getting a brand-new Ferrari, isn’t that something which is really incredible?

Now you have the chance to contribute to our cause which guides thousands of people, both Muslims and non-Muslims, to Islam, and have a share in that reward.

Consider becoming one of our amazing monthly donors who keep on reaping the rewards of charity over and over again. The growth and expansion of their good deeds are in sha Allah like a small seed that they sow, and it grows and multiplies in generations until it’s become a huge forest.

Can you afford to miss out on such a huge reward?

And if you’ve already signed up as a monthly donor, then if you can, try to make additional one-time donations to absolutely maximize your rewards in this blessed month of Ramadan.

May Allah accept from you, give you a safe and secure life, and make you a cause of people being guided to Islam. Ameen.

Smiling is contagious.

If you smile at someone, you feel good inside and want to smile more often.

The same is the case for the person you smile at.

It’s become such a rarely heeded sunnah that when two Muslims cross each other on the street, they go out their way to avoid eye contact.

Let’s us break this bad habit!

Surprise the other person into smiling, and they’ll perhaps do the same for the next person they meet.

And by smiling you will get the reward of charity.

The Blessed Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity.” (Tirmidhi 1956)

Among the greatest sins and the worst types of evil, is practicing magic (sihr).

The Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned this major sin among the seven destructive sins that Muslims must avoid at all costs. (see Sahih Bukhari 2767)

This major sin is strongly condemned by Allah in the Quran.

Allah the Most High said:

“ They instead followed the magic promoted by the devils during the reign of Suleiman. Never did Suleiman disbelieve, rather the devils disbelieved. They taught magic to the people, along with what had been revealed to the two angels, Harut og Marut, in Babylon. The two angels never taught anyone without saying, “We are only a test for you, so do not disbelieve (by practicing magic).” Yet people learned from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. Although their magic could not harm anyone except by Allah’s Will. They learned what harmed them and did not benefit them – although they already knew that whoever buys into magic would have no share in the Hereafter. Miserable indeed was the price for which they sold their souls, if only they knew!

If only they had believed and feared Allah, then the reward from Allah would have been (far) better, if they only knew.” (Quran 2:102-103)

These two verses show that magic is prohibited as it is a clear-cut kufr (disbelief).

The one who goes into magic, sells his soul for a miserable price.

And what will he get in return except curse from Allah in this world and a severe punishment in the Hereafter?

Look how beautiful is the second verse where Allah shows us that to believe in Him,

and to fear Him is the gateway for a better reward than selling one’s soul to the devil.

Therefore a Muslim must trust in Allah and seek His Mercy if he wants to achieve any good in this world and the next.

Magic is not a shortcut neither to happiness nor to success.

It's only a shortcut that leads to Hell.

We ask Allah protection against magic and magicians. AMEEN
