Pearl of Wisdom from Surah Ali Imran Verse 127-155 by Minhal
Surah Ale Imran Verse 127-155
* In most of these ayats, the incidents of the battle of Uhud are mentioned step by step with the lessons which are for us to pay attention to. The grief faced by the Companions because of one problem after another, was washed away when the glad tidings of Forgiveness from Allah were given to them because of the imaan in their hearts. The entire incident of Battle of Uhud was a blessing in disguise, had it not been for the problems and chaos they faced, they wouldn't have known the importance and reward of Sabr, if it weren't for the injury of Allah’s Prophet SAW and his SAW’s curse on enemies, we wouldn't have learnt that judging others for their sins is not a trait liked by Allah, had the muslims won the war, they would’ve developed the idea that every war with Rasool (SAW) will end in the form of victory and their intentions wouldve changed, and last but not the least if the muslims, fighting amidst the chaos with everything going downhill around them, didn't experience the news of The Prophets death and the ayat revealed in this incident, they wouldn't have known how to survive and keep fighting in Allah’s way without the Prophet among them. So EVERY incident brought a lesson not just for them but for us all. And hence, everything was destined by Allah and it is not for the momin to say “if” they did this instead of that etc, because he believes that everything goes the way Allah plans. and doesn't complain about anything.
* Allah’s Help May come in 2 ways;
(1): Decreasing the number of enemies, or Allah might put fear in their hearts which will make them weak and vulnerable, and wont ever be able to overcome the Muslims.
(2). Strengthening the Believers, by guiding more people to islam hence increasing them in number and by blessing their hearts with peace and contentment as well as the strength to fight against the enemy.
* taking and giving riba is one of the major sins in islam, and one of the few sins for which the Quran clearly mentions the punishment of; Hell. a person spends his entire life in misery after getting involved in riba, trying to make up the amount of loan as it keeps on multiplying for each delay. In the same way, the one who takes Riba might live a luxurious life in this world but he will too face a downfall, either in this world or in the Hereafter, because no sin ends in a happy ending unless repented from.
* A person who leaves a sin for the sake of Allah, sincerely repents for it and tries his best to never consciously fall into it again, Allah forgives such a person and provides him with good in this world and the next and prepares for him a place in Paradise which is far more vast that this world and the Heavens and much much better. Thinking about the rewards mentioned in the Quran for a person who leaves a sin for the sake of Allah make it easy for a muslim to leave behind a bad sin because he realises its (the sins) worth; which is nothing compared to the reward for abandoning it.
* Allah is The Most Forgiving, He mentions this again and again in the Quran to remind a person that there is still hope even after a person has exceeded to great limits in sinning, Allah mentions it repeatedly for a sinner to repent because when a person sins, Shaytaan makes him think that he isn't worthy of Allah’s forgiveness and Allah will never forgive him. for this reason (to fight against the waswasas of Shaytan) Allah has given us His Word, and He assures Muslims that He will forgive any and every sin no matter how many times a momin slips as long as the person has imaan in his heart and faith in the Mightiness of Allah.
* It is not for us to Judge anyone, be it a believer or a disbeliever, because we don't know who Allah might guide to the straight path later on in life, such that all their sins will be forgiven and we, for our “wise” judgement against them, will be punished.
* When a person is in pain, it is hard for him to keep a control over himself and might end up doing or saying something that would be displeasing to Allah. Just like when the Prophet SAW was injured in the battle of Uhud, he (SAW) out of IMMENSE pain uttered words that were not liked by Allah and He revealed the ayat that to make a judgement is only for Allah. This gives us a lesson that even when we’re in great pain and deeply hurt, we should control ourselves from saying or acting upon our pain to do such a thing that would not displeasing to Allah. In short, we should do sabr in that moment like Allah has Commanded us to.
* The characteristics of Muttaqi people are that: (1). They control their anger (2). they spend in prosperity and adversity i.e they do not let poverty come in their way to gain Allah’s Pleasure and Reward by giving away charity even from the little that they own. (3). they forgive others and do ihsaan on them (4). instead of being hopeless of the mercy of Allah, they persist and rush to repentance because they believe in a Lord that forgives.
* The stories of the past nations are not merely just fairy tales, but are mentioned in the Quran for us to learn a lesson from and not repeat history.
* A believer is meant to go through good and bad days both, to help a person evolve emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. If there were only good days, a person would grow to become arrogant and would start giving himself credit for the blessings rather than to Thank Allah. and if there were only bad days, a person would soon become hopeless and depressed and wouldn’t believe in the Blessings of Allah. So both of them are present to maintain a balance in a persons life.
* If we plan to do a good deed, and are passionate about it, we must avail every opportunity to do it and get closer to Allah. We shouldn't think twice and rush to do good because once you start thinking about “what ifs” and “should Is” then there is a great possibility Shaytan will distract you from doing that good deed and from the Path of Allah.
* People who think of escaping death are fooling themselves because death would reach them whether they were in their locked bedrooms hiding under their beds, or if they were in the middle of the sea. One cannot escape the manner and time of death because it is already predestined. To regret when something bad happens and start presenting other possibilities that would result to a better ending, is a hypocrites characteristic because the love of Allah and His Messenger and Imaan never sets to his heart, and due to his crippling faith he is scared of death and isnt ready to sacrifice his life in the path of Allah because of his love for this dunya.
* We can never trust the disbelievers enough to stretch a helping hand towards them because they will take any good opportunity to make us doubt our religion and have us fall back to ignorance.
* Abandoning the sunnah and dividing among groups makes us an easy target for Shaytaan’s tactics. A momin should hold onto the sunnah, the Quran and hadees and should utilise his time in bettering himself rather than passing judgements as to which group is right and which group is going to Hell, which (the judgement) is not allowed in Islam.
* The topics of Sabr and Shukr have been given great importance to because Allah loves those who are patient and grateful and grants them good in this world and Hereafter. However, to practice these traits is not very easy and requires a great amount of duaas and control over your nafs.
May Allah make us among the people who adopt the qualities of Muttaqin and of those who are able to leave the sins for the sake of Allah and gain Jannah.
