The Diocese of Hyderabad, Church of Pakistan, under the leadership of His Grace Bishop Kaleem John and the collective Church and Community Leadership, expresses its profound disappointment and absolute rejection of the Federal Constitutional Court’s recent decision to uphold the marriage of 13-year-old Christian girl Maria Bibi.
We are deeply concerned by the legal interpretation that allows for the marriage of underage girls from the Ahl al-Kitab (People of the Book) to Muslim men. By validating such unions based on physical appearance and disputed statements, the legal system creates a dangerous double standard that leaves minority children uniquely vulnerable. A 13-year-old is a child under both international and domestic law; her status as a member of a minority community should afford her greater protection from the state, not less.
The Diocese stands in unwavering solidarity with Maria’s family and all those seeking justice. We call upon the Government to bridge the legal gaps that allow for the exploitation of our daughters.

The Diocese of Hyderabad is excited to share an extended photo album capturing more special moments from the memorable Convocation Ceremony held on November 28th, 2025! This new collection features many featured photos of our Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, The Rt. Rev. Kaleem John, the Bishop of Hyderabad, and Rev. Eric Sarwar. Importantly, the album also highlights the sincere moment when representatives from different organizations and Diocesan institutions offered special greetings and congratulations to Bishop Kaleem John for his reappointment as the Deputy Archbishop of the Church of Pakistan for a second term as well as successful completion of the 7th Annual Convocation Ceremony of the Capacity Building Programme (CBP) of the Diocese of Hyderabad.

What an inspiring and joyous day unfolded on November 28th, 2025, as the Diocese of Hyderabad, Church of Pakistan, hosted a truly grand Convocation Ceremony at the historical St. Thomas Cathedral, Hyderabad!
The entire Diocese of Hyderabad proudly celebrated the 7th Batch of the Youth Leadership Training (YLT) and the students of the Discipleship and Bible Learning (DBL) Course, who all received their well-deserved training and course completion certificates.
Adding to the significance of the day, the dedicated clergy and catechists of the Diocese of Hyderabad were also recognized, receiving their certificates for their trainings and studies in Christian Education, Peace Building and Interfaith Harmony.
This celebration was more than just a graduation; it was a powerful moment of commissioning—preparing the next generation of Christian leaders and deeply grounded disciples to serve our church and community with profound passion, unwavering integrity, and deep faith.
His Grace Bishop Kaleem John, the Bishop of Hyderabad Diocese and the Deputy Archbishop of the Diocese of Hyderabad was the chief guest of the Convocation Ceremony while Rev. Eric Sarwar from the Netherland was the guest of honour. The Convocation Ceremony was well attended by the parents of the graduates, members of the Diocesan Executives Committee, DOH Head Office Staff, Heads of the projects and institutions as well as the clergy, church and community leaders from different parishes of the Diocese of Hyderabad.
