LIGHTED BY FAITH, UNITED IN CHRIST

Day 1 of our journey was truly filled with faith, learning, and meaningful encounters. The day began with the arrival of participants, followed by the Opening Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Rene C. Rivero, where we offered our prayers and opened our hearts to God’s guidance throughout the camp. After the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, we proceeded to the formation session entitled “Kabataan Liwanag: I am the Katipunan,” which reminded us of our identity and mission as young people called to become instruments of light, hope, and service in our communities.

In the afternoon, we continued to deepen our faith through inspiring sessions. The first session, “Witnessing the Light,” was shared by Sister Angie Vergara, ADC, who encouraged us to become living witnesses of Christ through our words and actions. This was followed by the second session, “Witness Therefore, Missionaries,” led by Ms. April Joy Bainig, which challenged us to courageously share our faith and mission with others. As the day came to an end, we celebrated our unity and friendship during the Solidarity Night, and concluded with a meaningful Eucharistic Adoration, where we spent time in silence, prayer, and reflection in the presence of the Lord.

Day 2 of the camp became a moment of deeper understanding, reflection, and spiritual growth as we participated in the Plenary on the Katipunan Module, where we learned more about our mission, responsibilities, and identity as young Katipuneros called to serve and lead with faith. This was followed by the “Conversation in the Spirit,” a meaningful sharing and listening activity that strengthened our unity, understanding, and relationship with one another and with God. As the camp came to a close, we celebrated the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Rey Larisma together with Rev. Kelvin Raz Castillo, ending the journey with grateful hearts, renewed faith, and inspiration to continue becoming witnesses of Christ in our communities.

We sincerely thank everyone who generously shared their blessings and helped provide our meals throughout the activity. Your kindness, love, and support made this experience truly meaningful for all of us.

To Ate Lanie Mariano and Mommy Melda Calamba, thank you so much for providing our meals for two days—from breakfast to dinner. Your generosity and care were deeply appreciated by everyone.

To Chanie Del Rosario and Kylie Mañago, thank you for your generosity and for showing your love and support for the youth. Your kindness inspires us greatly.

To Billy Jay Sta. Teresa, thank you for taking the time to drop off and send off our youth safely. Your support and effort mean so much to us.

and to Ma’am Nining Sta Teresa, Ma’am Baby Bernardo, and Ricky Delos Santos, thank you so much.

As the camp concluded, we went home with grateful hearts, strengthened faith, and renewed spirits. May the lessons, friendships, and experiences we shared continue to inspire us to become true witnesses of Christ and instruments of hope, service, and love in our communities.

READ | An excerpt from Ms. April Joy Balnig on her talk about "Witnesses, therefore Missionaries" during the Parish Youth Camp 2026.

She said: "You just say yes, and God will take care of the rest. While we say yes to God little by little, He leads us to places we never imagined. We can never say no to God’s invitation.
This (camp) is not just an invitation from the Jovenes de Monte Carmelo; this is an invitation coming from God."

Ms. AJ's talk about "Witnesses, therefore Missionaries" reminded the Jovenes de Monte Carmelo that every Christian is called not only to witness Christ’s love, but also to become missionaries in everyday life. She emphasized that being a witness is not simply about saying we believe in God, but about living out that faith through the way we love, forgive, serve, and persevere even when life becomes difficult.

Through her personal experiences in ministry, community service, youth leadership, and even public service, she showed how God continuously calls ordinary people to extraordinary missions. Despite doubts, exhaustion, and fears, she continued to say “yes” to God’s invitations and discovered that God always provides the strength needed for the mission.

READ | An excerpt from Sr. Angie Vergara, ADC, on her talk about "Witnessing the Light: Friends, therefore Witnesses" during the Parish Youth Camp 2026.

She said: "Hindi niyo dapat solohin ang buhay.
We need a friend. We need friends.
And do you know that Someone is ready to be our friend? Jesus considers you and me--each of us--a friend."

Sr. Angie's talk about "Witnessing the Light: Friends, therefore Witnesses" reminded the youth that before we can become witnesses of Christ’s light, we must first recognize that we ourselves are called to be a light. Like the moon that reflects the light of the sun, we shine because we receive the light of Christ.

Through John 15:15, “I have called you friends,” the participants reflected on how Jesus is not a distant God, but a loving friend who walks with us through our struggles, fears, and dreams. Moreover, the talk emphasized that real Christianity is not about performance, but about a genuine relationship with Christ. When we stay close to Jesus, His light naturally shines through us, allowing us to become true witnesses of hope, love, and faith to others.
