APRIL 11, 2026 | CHILDREN'S CATECHISM CULMINATING ACTIVITY

Last April 11, 2026, we joyfully held the ACIL Children’s Catechism Culminating Activity at San Nicolas de Tolentino Church, Camino Nuevo, in collaboration with ARO, marking the meaningful conclusion of our three Catechism Apostolate sessions. 🙏✨

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the journey we have shared with the children, filled with learning, joy, and moments of discovering God’s love. From our first session up to this culminating activity, we have witnessed not only their growth in knowledge but also in faith, participation, and enthusiasm.

This activity serves as a beautiful reminder that catechism is not just about teaching, but about forming hearts, building relationships, and guiding the young closer to Christ. Every smile, every lesson shared, and every moment of encounter is a seed planted in their hearts that will continue to grow in God’s grace. 🌿

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Alberto “Tex” Paurom, SJ, for facilitating the Catechetical sessions and for his continuous support and guidance throughout this mission.

To the people behind this successful activity, we sincerely thank Sir Kevin Roy Jimera, the Campus Ministry Director; Ate Haizel Mae B. Langoyan, ACIL Moderator; ARO Moderators; Ate Gernalyn Potestas, Campus Minister for the Alliance of Religious Organizations, for their guidance and support, especially in carefully checking the details and ensuring that the collaboration with ARO was well-coordinated and meaningful; Aleah Cheresse Jalandoni, the ARO Core Chairperson, for her leadership and support in making this activity possible.

With coordination of Ma’am Merlita Gracia, Coordinator of the Community-Based Health Program of Barangay Camino Nuevo, Zamboanga City, and Ma’am Sarah Gonzaga, Coordinator of the Overall BEC Leaders, this activity became even more organized for the community we serve.

To all catechists-ACIL members, volunteers, and partners, thank you for your dedication, time, and love. And to our dear children, thank you for inspiring us with your joy and openness to faith.

LAST CATECHETICAL SESSION & ACIL NEW MEMBERS ACCEPTANCE | APRIL 10, 2026

Last Friday, April 10, 2026, we came together with grateful hearts for a meaningful and grace-filled Last Session of our Catechetical Program with Fr. Alberto “Tex” Paurom, SJ, the University Chaplain. It was not just a simple conclusion, but a beautiful celebration of all the learnings, memories, and shared experiences we have encountered throughout our journey in service and faith. 🙏✨

We thank the Lord for His constant guidance in every session, for the wisdom imparted, the lives touched, and the hearts formed along the way. Truly, this journey has strengthened not only our understanding but also our commitment to serve with love, humility, and purpose.

On this special day, we also witnessed a remarkable milestone as we warmly welcomed and officially accepted our new members into the Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL). Your “yes” to this mission is both courageous and inspiring. As you begin this new chapter, may you continue to embrace the call to serve, to teach, and to reflect God’s love in all that you do. 💛

The new members also received a special priestly blessing from Fr. Tex, entrusts their journey to God and seeks His guidance, strength, and wisdom as they begin their service. May this blessing always remind you that in every step of your mission, God walks with you. 🙏

Following this, we also began our ACIL Pre-Discernment, where we introduced the different leadership positions for the next set of officers for the upcoming school year. More than just titles, these roles are opportunities to lead with faith, dedication, and a heart ready to serve. May this be a time of prayerful reflection and openness to God’s call.

To all ACIL members, old and new, thank you for your unwavering dedication and love for this mission. May we continue to grow together in faith and service, always for His greater glory. 🙌

✨ 8th Catechetical Session | April 10, 2026 ✨

Today marks a meaningful milestone as we gather for our 8th and Final Catechetical Session of ACIL for this school year. 🤍✝️

As we conclude this beautiful journey of faith, from learning how to pray, encountering Jesus in the Sacraments, and living out His love through our actions, we celebrate not just an ending, but a new beginning.

🌿 After the session, we will formally welcome our Aspirants through the Acceptance of Membership, as they become the new members of ACIL. May this step deepen your commitment to serve, grow, and walk with Christ.

🕊️ This will then be followed by the Pre-Discernment of Incoming Officers for School Year 2026–2027, as we prayerfully begin preparing the next set of servant leaders who will continue the mission of ACIL.

Let us all come together in faith, gratitude, and openness to God’s call. See you there Katekistas! 💛

Third Children’s Catechism 🤍✨
📅 Saturday, March 28, 2026

The ACIL Children’s Catechism joyfully continued with its third session last March 28, 2026, gathering the children of Brgy. Camino Nuevo for another afternoon of faith, learning, and meaningful encounters. The session was filled with enthusiasm as the children actively participated and shared moments of joy and discovery.

In collaboration with the Ateneo Lectors Society (ALECS), this session was made even more special through the collective effort of volunteers dedicated to nurturing the faith of the young.

The session focused on the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church, helping the children understand these as visible signs of God’s grace. Through storytelling, guided discussions, and engaging activities, they learned how each sacrament plays an important role in their journey of faith, marking important moments in their lives as followers of Christ.

This gathering served as a reminder that catechesis is a mission of the hear, and walking with children as they grow in faith, guiding them to recognize God’s presence in every step of their lives.

We sincerely thank all the volunteers for their generosity and commitment in making this session a success.

As we move forward, may we continue to inspire, guide, and serve with love and humility.

FEBRUARY 28, 2026 | 2nd Children’s Catechism 💛

The Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL) successfully held its Second Children’s Catechism last Saturday, February 28, 2026, continuing its mission of guiding the children of Brgy. Camino Nuevo in their journey of faith. The afternoon was once again filled with learning, joy, prayer, and meaningful encounters as the children gathered to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.

This session was made possible through the collaboration of Christian Life Community (CLC) AdZU and the Society of the Knights of Ignatius (SKI) AdZU, whose shared commitment to service and faith formation helped make the catechetical activity fruitful and engaging for the young participants.

The topic for the session centered on the Creed, particularly the Apostles’ Creed, which teaches the fundamental beliefs of the Catholic faith. Through guided discussions, prayer, and interactive activities, the children were introduced to the meaning of the Apostles’ Creed and its importance as a profession of faith that unites Catholics in what we believe about God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Church.

This catechetical apostolate continues to remind us that catechesis is not only about teaching doctrines, but also about forming hearts and nurturing a deeper relationship with God. We extend our gratitude to all the catechists, volunteers, and partner organizations who generously shared their time and dedication in making this session meaningful for the children.

As we continue this mission, may we remain faithful instruments in guiding the young towards a life rooted in faith, hope, and love.

Ite et Docete.
Go forth and teach.

Laudato Si’: Kawayan-ihan | February 28, 2026🎍

Like bamboo, our faith bends but does not break. It grows quietly, stands resilient in harsh conditions, and remains useful despite its simplicity. In its humility and strength, we are reminded to stay grounded, serve with love, and care deeply for God’s creation.

Laudato Si’: Kawayan-ihan is more than an activity—it is a commitment to remain rooted in God and to nurture the environment just as He nurtures us.

With grateful hearts, we thank everyone who took part in this meaningful initiative, especially our generous sponsors for their unwavering support. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Sir Jey from the ACES Office for providing us with essential knowledge and guidance that made this activity even more meaningful.

This is just the beginning. 🌱💚

FEBRUARY 27, 2026 | 7th Catechetical/Formation Session

The 7th session commenced with the Ignatian Prayer: the Daily Examen — a prayer designed to help people to pause, review their day, recognize God’s presence, give thanks, seek forgiveness, and ask for grace to live more faithfully. This practice encourages finding God in all things and promotes daily growth in awareness and love.

Catechists in formation were reminded that the Daily Examen is not only a personal spiritual practice but also a tool they can introduce to others. As a simple yet profound discipline, the Examen Prayer fosters gratitude, accountability, and spiritual growth. Through regular reflection, individuals learn to recognize God’s presence even in ordinary moments of daily life.

During the session, the ACIL revisited reflections from the previous meeting with Fr Alberto "Tex" B Paurom SJ - The University Chaplain, focusing on three key aspects of faith formation:

📌 The Prayer — a way to communicate with God and cultivate a personal relationship, emphasizing that faith begins with dialogue and trust.

📌 The Sacraments — encounters with God’s grace that provide forgiveness, strength, and nourishment, deepening the relationship initiated through prayer.

📌 The Morals — living out God’s love through actions guided by the commandments, not as mere rules but as a path to loving God and neighbor.

Together, these elements form an integrated journey of faith: participants pray, receive grace, and live in love.

The session ended with another meaningful step in planning preparing for the 2nd Catechism/Apostolate, highlighting the importance of growth, sharing, and mission. The ACIL continues this journey with gratitude and commitment to their vocation.

7th Catechetical (Formation) Session 💛✝️

As we continue our journey of learning, reflection, and growth, the Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL) will gathers once again for the 7th Catechetical (Formation) Session. Each formation encounter strengthens us as catechists, reminding us that before we are sent forth to teach, we are first called to be continually formed in faith.

Building on the insights and reflections from our previous sessions, this gathering invites us to deepen our understanding, renew our commitment, and grow together as a community of servant-leaders in the Church.

May this session once again inspire us to live what we teach and faithfully carry out our mission.

JANUARY 31, 2026| First Children’s Catechism 💛

The Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL) held its First Children’s Catechism last Saturday, January 31, 2026, making a meaningful start to our catechetical journey with the children of Brgy. Camino Nuevo. The afternoon was filled with learning, laughter, prayers, and heartfelt moments as young minds and hearts were gathered to grow deeper in faith.

This first session was made possible through the collaboration with the Ateneo Liturgical Society (ALS) and Youth For Christ (YFC) AdZU, united in one mission of service and faith formation.

The discussion focused on the Basic Prayers of the Catholic Church, helping the children understand not only how to pray, but why we pray. Through simple explanations, guided recitation, and interactive activities, the children were introduced to the basic prayers that contributes our daily life as Catholics. Emphasis was placed on prayer as our way of talking to God with trust, gratitude, and love.

This apostolate activity reminded us that catechesis goes beyond lessons; it is about guiding the children as they grow in their relationship with God and helping them experience faith in a joyful and meaningful way. We are grateful to all the catechists, volunteers, and partner organizations who generously shared their time and hearts in making this first session fruitful.

As we move forward in this catechetical journey, may we continue to teach with love and serve with humility.

Ite et Docete.
Go forth and teach.
