PARISH YOUTH CAMP ‘26 DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS:

Amid the realities of the 5Ks — Korapsyon, Kahirapan, Kasinungalingan, Kriminalidad, at Kataksilan — the youth of Parish Youth Camp 2026 were reminded that they are called to become bearers of hope and truth in today’s world. Guided by the 5Ps — Prayer, Protest, Pressure, Pruning, and Planting Hope — the participants reflected together through the Conversation in the Spirit, sharing their thoughts, experiences, and commitment as young Catholics.

The session concluded with a meaningful Commitment Rite, where each participant lit their candle from the Paschal Candle, symbolizing their willingness to share the light of Christ and become instruments of faith, service, and hope for others.

The camp concluded with a Closing Mass which was presided by Rev. Fr. Rey Larisma together with Rev. Kelvin Raz Castillo, sending everyone forth with gratitude and renewed faith.

Surrounded by light and faith, the Jovenes de Monte Carmelo (JDMC) joyfully conducted their Solidarity Night. The night was filled with prayer, performances, and a powerful testimony from one of the members of JDMC who participated in the Archdiocese Summer Youth Camp (ASYC) 2026. The Solidarity Night ended with the Commitment Ritual.

This Solidarity Night serves as a turning point for the delegates, reflecting the love and light that Jesus Christ brought to humanity, a light that transcends through all of us.

READ | An excerpt from Ms. April Joy Balnig on her talk about "Witnesses, therefore Missionaries" during the Parish Youth Camp 2026.

She said: "You just say yes, and God will take care of the rest. While we say yes to God little by little, He leads us to places we never imagined. We can never say no to God’s invitation.
This (camp) is not just an invitation from the Jovenes de Monte Carmelo; this is an invitation coming from God."

Ms. AJ's talk about "Witnesses, therefore Missionaries" reminded the Jovenes de Monte Carmelo that every Christian is called not only to witness Christ’s love, but also to become missionaries in everyday life. She emphasized that being a witness is not simply about saying we believe in God, but about living out that faith through the way we love, forgive, serve, and persevere even when life becomes difficult.

Through her personal experiences in ministry, community service, youth leadership, and even public service, she showed how God continuously calls ordinary people to extraordinary missions. Despite doubts, exhaustion, and fears, she continued to say “yes” to God’s invitations and discovered that God always provides the strength needed for the mission.

What a meaningful and grace-filled first day, Jovenes de Monte Carmelo! 💛

Day 1 began with the arrival and registration of our young campers, followed by the Holy Mass. The morning continued with the opening amenities and animations that helped build excitement and unity among the participants.

Through the Katipunan Module, the youth reflected on the realities of society, the call to become “liwanag,” and the mission of becoming modern-day witnesses of truth.

In the afternoon, the session “Witnessing the Light / Friends, Therefore Witnesses” reminded everyone that life is not meant to be faced alone because Jesus Himself calls us His friends. Through the sharing and commitment bonding, many were able to open their hearts and listen to one another.

The day continued with the inspiring session “Witnesses, Therefore Missionaries,” and the hashtag workshop that challenged the youth to become missionaries of Christ even in today’s digital world.

Indeed, Day 1 was not just a series of activities — it was a journey of friendship, formation, and mission.

READ | An excerpt from Sr. Angie Vergara, ADC, on her talk about "Witnessing the Light: Friends, therefore Witnesses" during the Parish Youth Camp 2026.

She said: "Hindi niyo dapat solohin ang buhay.
We need a friend. We need friends.
And do you know that Someone is ready to be our friend? Jesus considers you and me--each of us--a friend."

Sr. Angie's talk about "Witnessing the Light: Friends, therefore Witnesses" reminded the youth that before we can become witnesses of Christ’s light, we must first recognize that we ourselves are called to be a light. Like the moon that reflects the light of the sun, we shine because we receive the light of Christ.

Through John 15:15, “I have called you friends,” the participants reflected on how Jesus is not a distant God, but a loving friend who walks with us through our struggles, fears, and dreams. Moreover, the talk emphasized that real Christianity is not about performance, but about a genuine relationship with Christ. When we stay close to Jesus, His light naturally shines through us, allowing us to become true witnesses of hope, love, and faith to others.

The Jovenes de Monte Carmelo successfully holds its formation session, “Kabataang Liwanag: I am the Katipunan,” during the Parish Youth Camp 2026. This reminds the youth that true heroism is not only remembered in history but lived through everyday choices rooted in faith and action. Inspired by the courage of our national heroes and guided by the light of Christ, the participants are encouraged to become responsible and compassionate young leaders who stand for truth and the common good amid the challenges faced by society today.

ARRIVAL AND OPENING MASS | Youth delegates from the different toldas of the Ayala Parish joyfully arrived and gathered together for the opening celebration of the Parish Youth Camp 2026: Ignite with Christ. The welcoming Mass was solemnly presided over by the Parochial Vicar, Rev. Fr. Rene C. Rivero, reminding the young faithful of the true light found in Christ through the theme verse, John 8:12: “I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Filled with excitement and faith the youth participants came together not only as delegates from different communities, but as one family in Christ. With hearts open and spirits ready, they prepare for a meaningful encounter with God throughout this camp — an experience that will strengthen their faith, deepen their relationship with Christ, and ignite within them the passion to become bearers of His light to others.
