Today, we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, who at the end of her earthly life was assumed body and soul into the glory of Heaven. This beautiful truth reminds us that Mary’s life was completely centered on God β€” her yes, her humility, and her unwavering faith became a witness for all of us.

The Dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was solemnly proclaimed by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, through Munificentissimus Deus. It teaches that Mary, by a special grace from God, was taken into heavenly glory, body and soul.

Her Assumption is not only a celebration of Mary β€” it is also a reminder of the hope that awaits us. When life feels heavy, may we look to Mary and remember that our journey of faith is ultimately a journey toward God.

Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us.

La Dormicion de la Virgen Maria

Isang araw bago sumapit ang Dakilang Kapistahan ng Pag-aakyat sa Langit ng Mahal na Birhen ay ginugunita ng simbahan ang Dormicion de la Virgen Maria. Kung titignan ang wika ng kasulatan, ang kamatayan ay tinatawag na "pagtulog" o "pamamahinga" ng isang tao. Ang tradisyon at paniniwala sa Dormicion ng Mahal na Ina ay nakaugnay sa kanyang Pag-aakyat sa Langit, kaluluwa at katawan. Ang Dormicion de la Virgen ay hindi naitala sa mga kasulatan kaya naman maraming mga protestante ang di naniniwala sa tradisyong ito. Gayun pa man, ayon sa tradisyon ng Inang Simbahan, si Maria, kasama ng mga apostol, ay namahinga nang walang nararamdamang ano mang sakit at nasa estado ng espirituwal na kapayapaan. Kahit na mananatiling misteryo kung kailan at papaano talaga iniakyat si Maria sa Kalangitan, walang duda na ang naging ugat nito ay ang malubhang pagibig sa kanya ng anak niyang si Hesus, na dahil sa kanyang matamis na "oo" ay pumasok ang kaligtasan dito sa mundong ibabaw. Kay Maria narin makikita kung papaano ang simpleng dalaga ay nagiging kamangha-mangha nang dahil sa kanyang "Fiat" o pagsunod at kanyang pananampalataya sa Diyos na gumagawa ng mga kagila-gilalaslas na mga bagay.

PANALANGIN SA PANAHON NG KALAMIDAD

Sa gitna ng bagyo, baha, lindol, at iba pang pagsubok, patuloy tayong kumapit sa Diyos at manalangin nang may pananampalataya.

Nawa’y pagkalooban tayo ng Diyos ng kaligtasan, katatagan, at lakas ng loob upang harapin ang anumang unos. Gabayan nawa ang ating mga pamilya, mga tagapagligtas, at lahat ng tumutulong sa mga nangangailangan.
Sa bawat unos, hindi tayo nag-iisa. May Diyos na laging nakikinig at may pusong handang tumulong.

Apostol Santiago El Mayor, ipanalangin mo kami at ang buong sambayanang Pilipino.
Amen.

Sa pagtatapos ng buwan ng Hulyo, buong puso tayong nagpapasalamat sa Diyos sa lahat ng biyaya, gabay, at pagpapalang ating natanggap.
Nawa’y patuloy Niya tayong samahan sa pagharap sa bagong buwan, at sa pamamagitan ng panalangin at paggabay ni Apostol Santiago El Mayor, manatili tayong matatag sa pananampalataya at puno ng pag-asa.

Today we joyfully honor the holy siblings of Bethany, whose lives bear witness to faith, love, hospitality, and steadfast hope in Christ. May the example of St. Mary, who listened attentively to the Lord; St. Martha, who served Him with generous love; and St. Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead, inspire us to deepen our friendship with Christ and to welcome Him into our homes and hearts.

As we celebrate their feast, may they intercede for our families, our community, and all devotees, obtaining for us the grace to live lives of faithful service, unwavering trust, and joyful discipleship.
