Gospel Reflection – 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C)

Gospel: Luke 10:25–37
“Go and do likewise.”

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus is asked a question by a scholar of the law:
"Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus responds not with a lecture but with a story—the Parable of the Good Samaritan.
At the heart of the parable is a shocking act of compassion. A man is left beaten on the road. A priest and a Levite, both religious figures, pass by. But it is the Samaritan—a foreigner, an outsider, even considered an enemy by the Jews—who stops, sees the man’s suffering, and helps him with tenderness and sacrifice.
The message is clear: Love of God must be lived through love of neighbor. And love of neighbor goes beyond boundaries, race, religion, or status. True mercy is not about who deserves love, but who needs it.
Today, Jesus invites us not just to admire the Good Samaritan but to be the Good Samaritan. In a world full of division, indifference, and prejudice, we are called to see with eyes of mercy, to act with hearts that care.
We often ask, “Who is my neighbor?” But maybe the better question is:
“To whom can I be a neighbor today?”

Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see those who are wounded and in need along the road of life.
Help me not to walk away, but to stop, care, and love as You do.
Give me the courage to cross boundaries and show mercy in concrete ways.

Amang makakamhan, iniitaas mi ang samong mga puso sa pagpapasalamat huli kan mga nangangalasan kan Saimong linalang, huli kan Saimong pangataman sa pagtao Mo kan samong mga pangangaipo digdi sa daga, asin huli kan Saimong kadunongan na nag-aantabay kan lakaw kan bilog na kinaban.

Inaako mi na nagkasala kami Saimo asin sa kapalibutan.

Dai mi nasabotan asin naotob an Saimong kabotan na atamanon an kinaban.

An kapalibutan nagsasakit huli kan samong mga salang gibo,

Asin ngonyan namamatean mi na

An pagdusang-balik kan samong pag-abuso asin kapabayaan.

Padagos an labi-labing pag-init kan kinaban.

Huli kaini naglalawig an tig-initan; nagdadakul asin nagkukusog an mga bagyo, uran, baha, pagtuga kan bulkan, asin iba pang mga natural na calamidad.

Dai kaming mabibirikan kundi Ika, mamomoton na Ama.

October 11 | 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗘 𝗦𝗧. 𝗝𝗢𝗛𝗡 𝗫𝗫𝗜𝗜𝗜

Everyone remembers the image of Pope John's smiling face and two outstretched arms embracing the whole world. How many people were won over by his simplicity of heart, combined with a broad experience of people and things! The breath of newness he brought certainly did not concern doctrine, but rather the way to explain it; his style of speaking and acting was new, as was his friendly approach to ordinary people and to the powerful of the world. It was in this spirit that he called the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, thereby turning a new page in the Church's history Christians heard themselves called to proclaim the Gospel with renewed courage and greater attentiveness to the "signs" of the times. The Council was a truly prophetic insight of this elderly Pontiff who, even amid many difficulties, opened a season of hope for Christians and for humanity. In the last moments of his earthly life, he entrusted his testament to the Church: "What counts the most in life is blessed Jesus Christ, his holy Church, his Gospel, truth and goodness". - Pope John Paul II

As we celebrate today the Feast of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, let us entrust our life to our Blessed Mother praying the Holy Rosary and let us use it as a weapon in our everyday lives. Let us also unite in the calling of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, as he declare this day as a Day of Prayer & Fasting for World Peace. Let us join him asking the intercession of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, Queen of Peace.

The chapel community of St. Michael the Archangel extend its warm greetings to all teachers especially in our barangay. We are grateful for your great service in teaching. May our Lord Jesus Christ the Great Teacher bless you with an abundant wisdom.
Let us offer this Prayer for the Teachers as a sign of thanksgiving.

A PRAYER FOR TEACHERS

Giver of All Wisdom, Greatest of all Teachers,
Look upon our teachers with love

Grant them the resolve,
To nurture our eager minds
And to never give up on us who fall behind

Bless their hearts
For they rejoice when we succeed
And encourage us when we fail

Endow them with gentle patience
For the path of learning is never easy

Kindle a spirit of passion in them
It is the flame that ignites the love of learning in us

Help them see the potential in each student
Their belief in us means much more that the grade we make

Instill in them a commitment to keep on learning
It shows us to not fear new knowledge and experiences

Inspire them to touch the future
They influence how big a dream we dream for ourselves

Bless our teachers who have come before for their work endures to this day

Let the light of Your example shine upon all teachers:
To build up with their words
To love with their mind
To share with their heart
