March 19, 2026 | Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary

MEMORARE TO SAINT JOSEPH
Remember, O most pure spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, my great protector, Saint Joseph, that no one ever had recourse to your protection, or implored your aid without obtaining relief. Confiding therefore in your goodness, I come before you. Do not turn down my petitions, foster father of the Redeemer, but graciously receive them. Amen.

Mother of Perpetual Help Devotion

Lenten Season begins: Ash Wednesday

February 18, 2026 marks a profound spiritual moment as the Mother of Perpetual Help Devotion is observed alongside the beginning of the Lenten Season on Ash Wednesday. The image brings together two powerful expressions of faith: the tender, enduring protection of Mother Mary holding the Child Jesus, and the solemn humility of a believer marked with ashes, bowed in prayer. This day invites reflection, repentance, and renewed trust in divine mercy. As Lent begins, it calls the faithful to step into a season of prayer, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal, guided by hope and strengthened by devotion.

Ash Wednesday places a cross of ashes on our forehead, not to shame us, but to remind us of the truth: life is fragile, and we cannot save ourselves.
As we hear the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return,” we are brought back to humility. We are reminded that everything we cling to, pride, sin, bitterness, and worldly comfort, will not last.

But the ashes do not only speak of death. They also speak of mercy, Because even as we return to dust, God never stops calling us back to Him. This day is not about looking holy. It is about returning to the One who makes us whole.

To receive ashes is to admit we need God. It is to say, “Lord, I have wandered, but I want to come home.” It is the beginning of a sacred journey where prayer becomes deeper, repentance becomes sincere, and love becomes real.

May the Lord receive our returning hearts, cleanse what is broken within us, and lead us through Lent with humility, courage, and hope, until we reach the light of Easter.

DAY 1!

Abo gusto, Fasting ayaw?

Ash Wednesday is a day of

Fasting
• For ages 18–59 years old
• Eat 1 regular meal and 2 small meals (should not exceed the amount of the main meal.)

Abstinence
• For ages 14 years old and above.
• Refraining from kinds of food or drink refrain from eating meat (i.e. flesh and organs of mammals and birds), but may consume fish and shellfish.

Now let’s be clear about what this really means.

Ash Wednesday is not a diet day. It is not spiritual minimalism for aesthetic effect. It is a deliberate disruption of comfort. Fasting (for ages 18–59) means you intentionally limit quantity — one full meal and two smaller ones that together do not exceed the main meal. Abstinence (for ages 14 and above) means you avoid meat from mammals and birds, while fish and shellfish are permitted. The Church draws these lines carefully: it disciplines appetite without harming health, and it includes people gradually by age. The ash on the forehead is visible; the real work is invisible. Hunger reminds the body it is not in charge. Discipline clears noise. The point is not suffering — it is re-ordering desire. And that is a far more radical act than skipping lunch.
