Daily Gospel Reading
Friday of the Thirty-Fourth Week
in the Ordinary Time
Lk 21:29-33

December 1, 2023

Jesus told his disciples a parable.
"Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open,
you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening,
know that the Kingdom of God is near.

Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away."

Gospel Thought

If there is one thing that does not change is change. It gives us a logical picture that change is inevitable. Hovewer, amidst the changing times and impermanence, it may seem an expected life's eventuality, one thing remains constant, God's abiding love and presence by his words.

His Words of hope and joy,
"Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away."

A Blessed Friday Everyone.

Daily Gospel Reading
Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle
Mt 4:18-22

November 30, 2023

As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.

He said to them,
"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him. He walked along from there and saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John.
They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets.

He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father
and followed him.

Gospel Thought

When God calls, he sustains and qualifies.
Seventeen Years after I was ordained to the priesthood, a testimony that God will neve abandon but he will keep his promise till the end.

The Feast Day of Saint Andrew is an inspiration that God calls those who generously respond and when he called he sustains.

Nourished by the prayers and guided by the inspiration of God's love, I thank God for his unconditional and gracious goodness and mercy.

When at times there is doubt, a faint of hope and disappointment exists, he would remind me of his great love and gracious kindness.

Repeatedly and constantly reminding me,
Do As Have Done To You. (John 13:15]

A Blessed Thursday Everyone.

Daily Gospel Reading
Wednesday of the Thirthy-Fourth Week
in the Ordinary Time
Lk 21:12-19

November 29, 2023

Jesus said to the crowd:
"They will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.

It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.

You will even be handed over by parents,
brothers, relatives, and friends,
and they will put some of you to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives."

Gospel Thought

A daily invitation from Jesus to bear amidst persecution and sufferings until his Second Coming.

We are called to bear witness to Christ by loving those who hate us, by showing mercy and compassion to those who hurt and ill-treat us, by forgiving those who continue to offend us, by accepting our sufferings without complaint, and by continuing to keep Jesus’ word in our lives.

A Blessed Wednesday Everyone.

Daily Gospel Reading
Tuesday of the Thirty-Fourth Week in
the Ordinary Time
Lk 21:5-11

November 28, 2023

While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, "All that you see here–
the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."

Then they asked him, "Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?"
He answered, "See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time has come.'
Do not follow them!

When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end." Then he said to them,
"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky."

Gospel Thought

Jesus in the Gospel today gives warnings to the disciples about false military messiahs and their deceptive doctrines about overthrowing the Romans. Further, he gives some signs such as of the end of the world, like wars between nations, earthquakes, famines, plagues, and unnatural movements of the heavenly bodies.

We need to learn from the signs of the times and we need to prepare ourselves for the end times by living ideal Christian lives, helping others, sharing our blessings with others, getting and staying reconciled with God and our neighbors, and trusting in the living presence of Jesus in the Church.

A Blessed Tuesday Everyone.

Daily Gospel Reading
Monday of Thirty-Fourth Week
In the Ordinary Time
Lk 21:1-4

November 27, 2023

When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.

He said, "I tell you truly,
this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood."

Gospel Thought

The Gospel reading of today has given us something to reflect on our sincerity and genuiness of our desire to express our humble paying back to God's gracious love, mercy, and kindness.

He is more please with humble heart that truly gives not out of his surpluses but even by they very means and source of his life. That even our poverty can be a source and great blessing.

A Blessed Monday Everyone.
