The Friends of Light Choir was found by Analie Policarpio Magbanua as the moderator of the group and a former member of Ichtus choir and Ang Dios Gugma(ADG). This group is composed of children ages 9 to 16 yrs old as of 2016. Members are from from Kubay, Golf Area, Canetown, Binanlutan and from Victorias City proper. The choir trainer is Joseph Arucan who is also a former member of Icthus choir
and Glee Men’s Choir. He is assisted by Brosix Valenciano Jr, a former member of Glee Men’s Choir , VMC Arts Guild Chorale and presently a member of Victorias Charismatic Choir in Our Lady of Victory Parish in Victorias City. The Friends of Light group title was inspired by Spiritual Director Mrs. Elsie Jacolbe-Lising and supported by Mrs. Rosemarie Frias-Clavaton, Spiritual Disciplinarian. This group was born and bless by Rev. Jomar Bacucang, SDB, Parish Priest of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, VMC, Victorias City. The group started its church service on April 11, 2015
The group has its church singing schedule on 2nd and 3rd Saturdays, 2nd and 5th Sundays of the month at 6pm in Mary Help of Christian Church (formerly Immaculate Conception Church) in Canetown Subd. Despite of the distances of members, we are able to produce a choir with a good quality even though all of the members had no experience in choir singing. The trainer is from Cadiz and schedules for practice and finance is always the main problem. But with the determination of the trainers, the effort of the moderator and the support of the parents, the Friends of Light Choir continues to grow and survive . The Friends of Light had its first fund raising project last December 2015. The proceeds of the carolling were used in the feeding program last January 2016, T-shirt for the more than 60 members, Christmas Party and reserved funds for the transportation and snack of the choir members. The target for the electro-acoustic guitar was not reached and therefore was put on hold as of the moment. The Friends of Light Choir struggles to survive in order to produce a harmonious music which eventually leads people closer to God.
