Talk 2: The Creed
By: Mrs. Lavenia Sarreno
The Creed is the summary of our Christian faith. It is a statement of what we believe as followers of Christ, rooted in Sacred Scripture and Tradition. When we pray the Creed, we are not just reciting words—we are professing our faith in God and renewing our commitment to live according to His will.
The Creed is centered on the Holy Trinity:
* God the Father – the Creator of heaven and earth, the source of all life and love
* God the Son, Jesus Christ – who became man, suffered, died, and rose again for our salvation
* God the Holy Spirit – who continues to guide, strengthen, and sanctify the Church
It also expresses our belief in the Church and the life of grace, including:
* The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church
* The communion of saints
* The forgiveness of sins
* The resurrection of the body
* And life everlasting
For us as catechists, the Creed is not only to be taught but to be lived and witnessed. It challenges us to:
* Remain faithful to God
* Share the truth with love
* Be living examples of what we believe
In the end, saying “I believe” is a personal and communal commitment—a call to live a life rooted in faith, hope, and love in Christ.
