An Invitation to Eco-Friendly Worship and Care for Our Common Home

"Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue..." — Pope Francis, Laudato Si’

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As a community gathered under the loving protection of the Santo Niño, we are called to gently care for the beautiful creation God has entrusted to us.

In the spirit of true ecological conversion, and as mandated by our Parish through our Parish Priest, Rev. Father Aurelius Pepino, our chapel community is warmly guided to embrace a more sustainable way of expressing our faith. This parish mandate, effective today, July 6, 2026, invites us to integrate environmental stewardship into our sacred traditions through the following mindful transitions:

1. Natural Alternatives for Offertory Gifts
When preparing gifts of bread, wine, fruits, and goods for the altar, we are asked to move away from single-use plastic bags and disposable wrappers.

The Alternative: In line with Father Aurelius' guidance, the faithful are encouraged to use native woven baskets, reusable containers, or paper-based wrappings. Bringing our offerings in materials closer to nature adds a beautiful, traditional touch to our liturgy.

2. Mindful Choices for Announcements
To help significantly reduce our environmental footprint, our parish is transitioning away from the use of plastic tarpaulins for feast days and event announcements.

The Alternative: We invite all chapel ministries to share information using digital displays, chalkboards, reusable wooden signage, or recyclable paper notices on our community bulletin boards.

3. Walking Together in Eco-Friendly Worship
This mandate is an invitation for our families, youth groups, and BECs to creatively work together. While this represents a definitive direction for our parish, it is not meant to be rigid, but rather a shared, loving commitment to mindful living. By making these small adjustments, our care for the environment becomes a living extension of our prayer.

Thank you for your open hearts and your willingness to walk this green path together under the leadership of our parish shepherd. May the Santo Niño bless our community and our shared efforts to protect His creation.

Given this 6th day of July, 2026, at Macapso Santo Niño Chapel.
