Gospel of the Day

July 14, Mon.

Mt. 10:34-35: Do not think that I have come to establish peace on earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

Reflection: The path of holiness is a source of peace and joy, given to us by the Spirit. At the same time, it demands that we keep “our lamps lit” and be attentive. “Abstain from every form of evil”. “Keep awake”. “Let us not fall asleep”. Those who think they commit no grievous sins against God’s law can fall into a state of dull lethargy.

Pray: Awaken me, loving Lord, and do not allow my soul to go lax in living in righteousness. Amen.

Act: Keep on living in righteousness.

Gospel of the Day: June 8, 2025 (Sunday)

Amen.

Buhata: Saksihi ang Ginoo sa kalibotan.

Gospel of the Day: June 7, 2025 (Saturday)

Jn. 21:25: But Jesus did many other things; if all were written down, I think the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.

Reflection: We need to be sure that we understand the meaning of the words we read…. If a text was written to console, it should not be used to correct errors; if it was written as an exhortation, it should not be employed to teach doctrine; if it was written to teach something about God, it should not be used to expound various theological opinions; if it was written as a summons to praise or missionary outreach, let us not use it to talk about the latest news.

Pray: Let your word, O Lord, be a lamp and light to the path of our newly elected leaders. Amen.

Act: Reflect on God’s word.

Gospel of the Day: June 6, 2025 (friday)

Amen.

Buhata: Atimana ang uban pinaagi sa gugma.

Gospel of the Day: June 5, 2025 (thursday)

Jn. 17:21-22: May they all be one, as you Father are in me and I am in you. May they be one in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Reflection: This principle, drawn from the Gospel, reminds us that Christ has made all things one in himself: heaven and earth, God and man, time and eternity, flesh and spirit, person and society. The sign of this unity and reconciliation of all things in him is peace. Christ “is our peace”.

Pray: One God of all and for all, make us work for reconciliation and unity among all peoples. Do not allow any hurt or feelings of pride hinder us from working together as citizens of our country. Amen.

Act: Work for peace.

𝐈𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐦: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬

As the sun sets on the life of Pope Francis, the world pauses to reflect on the profound impact he has made during his historic papacy. Since his election in 2013, Jorge Mario Bergoglio has not only guided the Catholic Church but has also emerged as a voice of compassion and reform in a rapidly changing world. His exemplary commitment to the values of humility, mercy, and solidarity with the marginalized has resonated beyond the confines of the Vatican, touching millions globally.

Pope Francis's unique approach to the papacy was often characterized by his deep concern for the environment, social justice, and interfaith dialogue. His encyclical, Laudato Si’, called for greater stewardship of our planet, urging everyone to acknowledge the existential threat of climate change and the urgent need for sustainable practices. He recognized that the care for creation is intertwined with the care for our fellow human beings, advocating for the poor and disenfranchised who are disproportionately affected by environmental degradation.

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of compassion over condemnation, urging the Church to embrace inclusivity and understanding. His open remarks on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, the treatment of refugees, and economic inequality challenged traditional norms, inviting many to engage thoughtfully with faith and modernity. His gentle demeanor and approachable nature endeared him to people of all walks of life, making him a beloved figure not just within the Catholic community but across religious and cultural divides.

In his final days, as we remember and celebrate his legacy, we acknowledge his unwavering faith and dedication to the Gospel. The message of hope he spread reverberates, as he often reminded the faithful that joy must be our compass. His passing invites us, once again, to reflect on the essence of Christ’s teachings and the call to serve one another with love and humility.

As we bid farewell to Pope Francis, may we carry forward his vision for a Church that is a refuge for the hurting and a champion for justice. His spirit will continue to inspire us to act with compassion, to seek truth, and to embrace our shared humanity.

Gospel of the Day
April 18, Friday

Gospel: Juan 18:1—19:42

Gospel of the Day
April 15, Tuesday

Gospel: John 13:21-33, 36-38
Jn. 13:37-38: Peter said to him, “Master, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the c**k will not crow before you deny me three times.”

Reflection: Jesus acknowledges His betrayal and the trials ahead, but also reveals that His sacrifice will glorify God. Peter’s denial highlights our human frailty, reminding us to stay loyal to Jesus and rely on His grace to strengthen us in difficult times.

Pray: Lord, strengthen our loyalty to You and guide us through life’s challenges. Amen.

Act: Express your loyalty to God by attending the Holy Eucharist.

Gospel of the Day
April 13, Sunday (Palm Sunday)

Gospel: Lukas 22:14—23:56

Gospel of the Day
April 10, Thursday

Gospel: John 8:51-59
Jn: 8:54-55: Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God. You do not know him, but I know him.”

Reflection: Jesus is not just a teacher or prophet, but the eternal God whose glory comes from the Father. The Jews rejected Him because they could not grasp this truth, prompting us to reflect on whether we recognize His divine nature. True glory is found not in human achievement, but in a deep connection with God, seeking His approval and aligning our lives with His will.

Pray: Lord, help us recognize Your glory in Jesus and align our lives with Your will. Amen

Act: Make a conscious effort to live out one of God’s commandments.

Gospel of the Day
April 9, Wednesday

Gospel: John 8:31-42
Jn. 8:31-32: Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.".

Reflection: Jesus teaches us that being free comes from following Him and His truth, not from just being born into a certain family or a lineage. He points out that true disciples love and obey God's word. It is not enough to claim faith but rather we must live it out by accepting Jesus and the freedom He offers.

Pray: Lord, help us follow Your truth and live in Your freedom. Amen.

Act: offering a helping hand to someone in need.
