"I am having a hard time accepting this disease, but I will accept it," 45-year old Marinela Claveria from Dagupan City uttered in her prayer in the Urdaneta Temple on May 15, 2024.
Marinela, a mother of five was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 2024, as shown in her mammogram and breast ultrasound results, and manifested by the several disease symptoms she experienced.
"My world shattered. I was staring into nothing while walking back towards my husband. He hugged me even before I could utter a word," she described.
She then burst into tears.
"That night, I couldn't sleep. My husband and son gave me a priesthood blessing," she shared. "My family and I prayed every night."
She was advised by her doctor to immediately undergo biopsy for the big, malignant tumor. While waiting for the results, which took more than a month, her family went to the temple to pray.
Recalling parts of her prayer she shared, "I know You will not give me a trial I won't be able to triumph over. I know that You gave me (such ordeal) to make me strong."
Marinela continued, describing the part where she mentioned her 19-year old youngest child to whom she's greatly concerned about, "Right now, Stephen still needs me. I know You don't want him to be a lost soul. I know I don't have the right to demand anything from Thee because I am forever indebted unto Thee."
She further recalled, "But this time, Father, I ask from Thee to please give me a longer life so I can continue to guide my children, especially Stephen who's on a different path right now. I still want to see all my children be in a safe and good condition."
When the biopsy results came in on June 19, 2024, her doctor was shocked and couldn't believe his eyes!
He immediately did a quick physical examination on Marinela. "It's totally gone!" her doctor exclaimed referring to the tumor.
Marinela relayed, "He said that my case, diagnosed with a malignant tumor and a sure breast cancer to having the tumor completely disappear is very rare."
Her doctor even consulted with another physician, as he was puzzled by the biopsy results, which was benign and didn't match her mammogram and breast ultrasound results.
She added, "My doctor did a biopsy just to know what stage my cancer is. But it turned out that the tumor miraculously melted."
"I cried again and had goosebumps," she shared. "I couldn't believe what I was hearing (from my doctor)."
"This is a miracle. Go home and celebrate!" her doctor blurted out.
Marinela said that what healed her were faith, fasting, prayers, going to the temple, healthier lifestyle, and the faithful services of her fourth child, Sayra who's serving a full-time mission.
Today, Sister Claveria, her fourth returned missionary child came home from Cebu Mission; and just recently, Stephen returned to the fold and is now preparing to serve a full-time mission. ❤️
