The UST Pax Romana Central Coordinating Council joins the Catholic faithful in mourning the passing of Rev. Fr. Ernesto De Leon, former executive secretary of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Evangelization and Catechesis (ECEC), who died Saturday, June 13, at 59.

We remember his life and ministry, especially his tireless dedication to catechesis and the faith formation of the Filipino people. We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and the communities he so devotedly served.

Let us pray,
O God, who among your apostolic priests raised up your servant, Fr. Ernesto, to the dignity of the priesthood, grant, we beseech you, that he may also be admitted to their glorious company in heaven.
V. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
R. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
V. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

A beautiful chapter comes to a close as the graduating batch of Pax Romana student-leaders recently gathered for the Testimonial Luncheon last June 4, 2026, at the Dr. Robert C. Sy Grand Ballroom. Hosted by the Center for Campus Ministry, the event was a heartfelt celebration of the graduating students' unwavering dedication to campus evangelization throughout their stay at the University.

As these student-leaders prepare to embark on new journeys, the afternoon was filled with reflections on the spiritual growth and fellowship nurtured within the campus. The community looks back with pride at how these graduates have served as beacons of faith, carrying the university’s mission into their future professional lives. Today, we commemorate Pentecost Sunday. It teaches that the Holy Spirit is not far away, but actively present in our lives, leading us, giving us strength, and continually renewing us. Instead of remaining an external set of commands, God’s law becomes something alive within us: placed in our hearts and guiding us from the inside.

In this sense, Pentecost is often called the “New Sinai.” The same God who once revealed His will outwardly now gives His very Spirit as the “new law,” shaping us through love and transforming our hearts so that we can truly live according to His will (Pope John Paul II, 1998).

The celebration of Pentecost brings to light the fullness of the Holy Trinity while also marking the beginning of the Church’s mission in the world. From that moment, every one of us is entrusted with the call to proclaim the Gospel. As we reflect on this, we are encouraged to welcome the Holy Spirit more fully into our lives, allowing His transforming presence to guide us in becoming true witnesses of Christ’s love.

Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus was taken up into heaven before His disciples. Jesus’ Ascension wasn’t an ending—it was a mission being passed on. After rising, He declared His authority and sent His disciples out to reach all nations and make followers, assuring them that He would remain with them always, even until the end of time.

The Church offers a quiet reminder: we’re not meant to hold on to Jesus only in the ways we prefer. Rather, we’re invited to keep walking in faith, loving Him deeply even when He isn’t visible to us.

Gathered with hopeful hearts and a shared vision of success, the UST-AMV CoA community recently convened at the UST Santísimo Rosario Parish for a solemn Petition Mass. Presided by our College Regent, Rev. Fr. Franklin Beltran, OP, this sacred celebration was dedicated to everyone preparing for the CPA, CMA, and CISA Examinations. As they lifted their petitions to the Lord, they found strength in their collective faith, asking for the clarity of mind and the steadfastness of spirit necessary to navigate these professional milestones.

Looking back at these moments of prayer and reflection, we are reminded that while the road to certification is rigorous, we never walk it alone. It was truly inspiring to see our future professionals offering up their hard work and anxieties, trusting in His divine guidance to see them through every challenge. We continue to keep all our examinees in our prayers, believing that with grace and perseverance, you will soon achieve your goals and serve the community with integrity as newly certified leaders.

Reflecting on the successful implementation of Project AGAPAY: SIKAP, a joint community development initiative by the Pax Romana Accountancy Unit and the Accountancy Student Council. Standing for Aksyon at Gabay sa Pag-asenso ng Pamayanan, this project focused on empowering our partner community through essential financial literacy. From teaching the fundamentals of budgeting and saving to sharing practical strategies for managing limited resources, our goal was to equip every participant with the tools needed to make sustainable financial decisions in their daily lives.

It was truly inspiring to witness the community realize that meaningful growth and progress are achievable when we work together and manage our resources wisely. We are immensely grateful to everyone who participated and helped turn these financial goals into a reality, proving that empowerment is the first step toward a more secure future.
