With grateful hearts, we begin our journey toward the 38th BALIAKAG Festival 2026 through this Preparatory Formation.

Anchored on the words of Jesus in John 15:27, โ€œYou also are my witnesses, because you have been with Me,โ€ we are reminded that being a witness of Christ does not always mean doing extraordinary things. Sometimes, it simply means living with faith, serving with love, and sharing hope with others in our everyday lives.

As we come together, may this formation inspire us to know Jesus more deeply and to reflect His presence in the way we speak, act, and serve. Having experienced His love, may we courageously become His witnesses wherever we are called.

Let us prepare not only for a festival, but for a renewed commitment to live our faith with joy and purpose.

The Ascension of the Lord
Gospel: Matthew 28:16โ€“20

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." โ€” Matthew 28:19, 20

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. Before Jesus ascends into heaven, He leaves His disciples not with a goodbye, but with a mission the Great Commission. He trusts us to be His hands, feet, and voice in the world today. And to ensure we never feel overwhelmed by this great task, He gives us the most comforting promise: He will remain with us always.

Sharing our faith doesn't mean we need to have all the answers or preach on big stages. Serving at the altar, showing kindness to our peers, and living with integrity are powerful ways to spread His teachings. We don't walk this path alone; His presence goes before us and dwells within us.

Gospel: John 16:23bโ€“28

"For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God." โ€” John 16:27

In today's Gospel, Jesus offers a beautiful and reassuring truth: we have direct access to the heart of the Father. He invites us to pray boldly in His name, promising that the Father hears us because of our faith and love for Christ. Jesus lays out His divine mission clearly He came from the Father into the world, and now He returns to the Father, leaving us with the ultimate insurance of Godโ€™s personal love for us.

When we pray, we are not speaking into an empty void. We are speaking to a Father who genuinely loves us, listens to our worries, and guides our steps. Because of Jesus, we are never distant from God.

Let us bring our hearts to the Father in prayer today, confident that we are deeply loved and always heard. ๐Ÿ™โœจ

On May 10, 2026, the San Roque Parish initiated a meaningful activity for the children through a Games and Feeding Program. Hosted by the CYM, the event brought joy and excitement as children participated in games and received school supplies, toys, free haircuts, and earrings.

The feeding program was generously prepared by the Knights of Columbus, while the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) offered free haircuts and earrings for the children, making the activity even more memorable and meaningful.

Special thanks to Fr. Ven John Porras, CMF, Fr. Joseph Ha Van Kinh, CMF, and Bro. Su Bin, together with the novices Br. Nat, Br. Bao, and Br. Loi, for their guidance, support, and dedication in making this activity successful.

Gospel: John 15:9โ€“11

"As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love." โ€” John 15:9

In today's Gospel, Jesus speaks of a love that is constant, sacrificial, and life-giving. He invites us not just to visit His love occasionally, but to remain in it. This "remaining" isn't passive; it is a choice we make every day to follow His commandments and treat others with the same grace He shows us. The beautiful promise at the end of this passage is that when we do this, His joy remains in us, and our joy is made complete.

True joy isn't found in perfect circumstances, but in a perfect Connection. When we choose to love even when it's hard, we aren't just doing a good deed we are letting the Fatherโ€™s joy flow through us to the world.

Let us ask for the grace today to remain in His love and be carriers of His complete joy. โค๏ธโœจ

Gospel: John 15:1โ€“8

"I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing." โ€” John 15:5

In today's Gospel, Jesus uses the powerful image of the vine and the branches to describe our relationship with Him. He reminds us that our strength, our growth, and our ability to love do not come from our own efforts alone, but from staying deeply rooted in Him. When we detach ourselves from the source of life, we wither; but when we remain in Him, our lives naturally overflow with "fruit"โ€”goodness, joy, and service.

To "remain" in Jesus means making space for Him in our busy schedules, trusting His timing, and allowing His love to guide our actions. When we do this, we don't just live for ourselves; we become a living testimony of His grace to everyone we meet.

Gospel: John 14:27โ€“31a

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid." โ€” John 14:27

In todayโ€™s Gospel, Jesus gives us a gift that the world cannot provide: His peace. This isn't just the absence of conflict, but a deep, spiritual stillness that remains even when life is chaotic. He prepares His disciples for His departure by anchoring them in the promise that His presence and peace will never truly leave them.

Sometimes, a little faith is enough to rest in His peaWhen uncertainty knocks at your door, remember that you don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Jesus invites us to let go of our fears and rest in the calm that only He can provide.

May we choose to live in His peace today and every day.
