It is important that our lives are rooted in the Word of God, because a life that truly honors Him places His desires above our own preferences and worldly ambitions.

1. Reading the Bible shows us God’s character.
2. Reading the Bible teaches us to imitate God
(Ephesians 5:1).
3. Reading the Bible helps us discover our next step
(Psalm 119:105).
4. Reading the Bible keeps us away from sin
(Psalm 119:11).
5. Reading the Bible helps renew our minds so we can know God’s will
(Romans 12:1–2).
6. Reading the Bible helps us be certain of what God has said.
7. Reading the Bible allows us to receive the desires of our hearts.
8. Reading the Bible is how we learn about the gospel
(John 5:39–40).
9. Reading the Bible gives us courage
(Joshua 1:8–9).
10. Reading the Bible helps us to be fruitful
(Psalm 1:2–3).

Separation begins with doubt, obedience sustains life. Guard your eyes, reject the desires of your flesh, and cling daily to God’s word alone.

1. Never doubt the Word of God.
(Isiah 59:1-2)

2.The truth is always in God.
(Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18, Hebrews 11:6)

3. Reject the desires of the flesh.
(Hebrews 11:25)

4. Assume responsibility for your sin.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy.

3 They will be without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good.

4 They will be treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God

5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Joshua 24: 29-33

"Through the Word of God, Joshua is a good leader."

24 And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and obey him.”

25 On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws. 26 And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the Lord.

27 “See!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.”

28 Then Joshua dismissed the people, each to their own inheritance.

29 After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. 30 And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

31 Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel.

32 And Joseph’s bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the tract of land that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver[d] from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph’s descendants.

33 And Eleazar son of Aaron died and was buried at Gibeah, which had been allotted to his son Phinehas in the hill country of Ephraim.
