Every year, the nation comes together to celebrate the importance of the Bible. From its humble beginnings as the National Bible Week, the National Bible Month has become a cherished season for churches and parishes across the country.
The yearly themes of the National Bible Month are brought to life in the Bible fests, public readings of the Scriptures, art competitions, Bible quizzes, songwriting contests, games, and many other activities. All of these testify to how the Bible can be relevant in every aspect of our lives.
More than just celebrating the importance of the Bible, the call for us today is to heed God's Word so that we may see true and lasting change in our lives and in our country. God still speaks, and he continues to provide us with truth and light from his Word.
Reading the Bible allows believers to grow in their faith and be transformed by Godβs powerful Word. As former President Fidel Ramos said, reading and understanding the Bible aids in molding our βspiritual, moral and social fiberβ as a people. Let us take the opportunity presented to us every National Bible Month to start our year by diligently reading and obeying the Scriptures!
