Take hold of being a childlike to cherish, as you let go of your being childish.

When you strive to live in simplicity, you become aware of the basics of what is essential in life. It brings about focus on your primary needs and everything else is a blessing. Happiness in life lies not in the complex of your wants but in the contentment of what you simply need. This is being childlike and not being spoiled in the whims of childishness. This joy of simplicity conducts sincerity in your acts. You don't eat cookies with a fork. One doesn't love someone because he needs her; but he needs that someone because he loves her. God doesn't need us. He loves us. Our only gateway to him is to be simple in our lives...just like a child.

True happiness need not be expensive. (al)

Feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno
January 9

The feast of the miraculous Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno or simply called as the “Black Nazarene” is one of the most celebrated Christological image in the country and popular piety for the Filipino Catholics.

The image is enshrined at the Basilica Minore of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo Church which attracts millions of devotees a year.

The dark-skinned image depicts the suffering Christ on his way to Calvary in a kneeling position, carrying the cross of salvation. The image wears red garment all the time signifying Christ’s bloodshed. It is believed that the image of El Señor was sculpted by an unknown Mexican artisan and arrived in Manila through the galleon trade from Acapulco, Mexico in 1606 by the Augustinian Recollects.

The image was enshrined in a church in Bagumbayan (Luneta), until it was transferred in one of the churches in Intramuros. In the late 1787, Manila Archbishop Basilio Sancho de Santas Justa y Rufina mandated the transfer of the image to the Parish of St. John the Baptist in Quiapo, Manila and became the final resting place of the miraculous image.

Prayer to Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno

Beloved Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, come into my life, to my home and bless all my loved ones one by one, and make us live in peace.

Remove us with your holy gaze from everything that could harm us and take away our peace of mind. Pour out your divine graces in our souls so that we can eat the bread that you give us, and of everything that can harm us, Jesus with your great power.

These are my prayers Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, you pick up as a loving Father the request of your son who turns to you full of faith and hope. Amen

Epiphany is the day the world first saw the Savior revealed. The Magi followed a star, trusting a promise they could not yet fully understand. Their journey reminds us that finding Jesus often requires patience, courage, and faith.

When the Savior appears, He does more than fulfill prophecy, He touches the human heart. The hearts of the Magi were filled with awe and joy when they knelt before the Christ child. In the same way, our hearts are healed when we encounter Jesus. Healed from fear, from doubt, from loneliness, and from the wounds of life. His presence restores what is broken, lights what is dark, and gives hope where despair once lingered.

Healing does not always come in dramatic ways. Often, it begins in a moment of peace in prayer, a word of comfort from a friend, a choice to forgive, or a small act of kindness. These are glimpses of the Savior revealing Himself in our ordinary lives. Just as the Magi were led by a star, we are guided by God’s light, through Scripture, prayer, and the people around us.

Epiphany challenges us to look for Jesus actively. He is present in the joyous moments, in the struggles, and even in the ordinary rhythm of each day. When we open our hearts to Him, the Savior appears, and healing begins.

“They saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage” (Matthew 2:11).

May this Epiphany remind us that the Savior is not far away. He comes close to meet us in our wounds and our weariness. And when we recognize Him, our hearts are made whole, our spirits are lifted, and our lives are transformed. ❤️
