Today, August 25, 2026, the parishioners of Our Lady of Salvation in Anislag, Daraga, Albay journeyed to the Parish and Shrine of Our Lady of Salvation in Joroan, Tiwi, Albay. This Pilgrimage aimed to mark the 50th Coronation Anniversary of the venerated image enshrined at the Joroan Church that was officially crowned by Jaime Cardinal Sin on August 25, 1976.

It was a holy journey. A spiritual renewal in the life of the parishioners. Thank you, Mama Mary. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

Join us once again as devotees of Our Lady of Salvation unite for our annual midnight pilgrimage to the home of INA at the Joroan Shrine in Tiwi, Albay!

Held every last Saturday of August, this 11-kilometer foot journey from the Parish of Saint Lawrence the Martyr (Tiwi Center) is a profound act of devotion under the cover of night.

When: Friday midnight, August 28, transitioning to Saturday, August 29, 2026

To: Joroan Shrine, Tiwi, Albay

𝙳𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝙲𝚘𝚛𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗: 𝙰𝚞𝚐𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝟸𝟻, 𝟷𝟿𝟽𝟼

The image of the Nuestra Senora de Salvacion of Joroan, Tiwi, Albay was carved by Bagacumba from a mysterious kalpe tree trunk that was found in Buhi, Camarines Sur. The sculptor made three images out of the trunk: the statues of San Antonio de Padua for Buhi, Virgen de la Soledad for Tambo, and Virgen del Salvacion that were given to Joroan on August 25, 1776.

Originally known as Virgen de la Luz, the Virgin is known for saving the people of Albay from Muslim pirates who threatened to rob and kidnap the residents the people developed their love and devotion to the Virgin she was later named “Salvation”. Pilgrims from all over Bicolandia and other parts of the country would flock to her shrine to pay homage to her and perform penances and devotion to Our Lady. The Virgen de Salvacion was Pontifically Crowned on August 25, 1976, and was proclaimed the Patroness of the Diocese of Legazpi. Dear Lady of Salvation, powerful advocate of man, intercede for us, guide us to your Son, and keep us under your mantle of protection.

We honor you, O Blessed Mother, our refuge and our hope. We implore Thee, to obtain for us the grace of the loving God, to give us patience in adversities. Teach us the way to follow the Cross where we can obtain our Salvation. We will live to God what is best for us. We will accept all sufferings that He sends us, so that these sufferings will increase our merits in Heaven.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
